ROUND TWO
POWELLS POINT, N.C. -- With two rounds complete at the ODU/Outerbanks Collegiate, the Elon men's golf team finds itself in 16th position with a round to play. The Phoenix has a two-round score of 613 (303-310).
For the second straight day, Elon was paced by the efforts of
Tanner Norton. Norton followed up Sunday's two-over par 74 with a one-over 73 on Monday. His 147 has him in a tie for 26th out of 90 golfers in the tournament. Norton has six birdies over his 36 holes.
Following Norton is
Dylan Morgan who sits in a tie for 68th with a 154 (76-78) through two rounds of action. Morgan has a total of three birdies.
In a tie for 76th is
Stuart Kaufman who shot a 158 (78-80) while
Jack Adkins is in a tie for 78th with a 159 (75-84). Adkins has four birdies.
Finally,
John Somers' 160 (81-79) sits 82nd.
Georgia's T.J. Mitchell continued to lead the individual field. Mitchell is 10-under after two rounds with a 134 (64-70). He leads Liberty's Robert Karlsson (67-68--135) by one stroke entering Tuesday's final round.
Liberty, rated 37th in the nation by Golfstat, has a one-stroke edge over number 28 Georgia after two rounds. The Flames have posted a 557 (281-276) to the Bulldogs' 558 (271-287).
Winthrop (291-286--577), Old Dominion (289-292--581) and George Washington (291-291--582) complete the top five.
The Phoenix leads both Saint Joseph's (318-312--630) and Drexel (318-312--630) in the 18-team event.
