Local Rivals Go Head-to-Head on Elon Senior Night

ELON, N.C.
– In the final men’s basketball game of the year at Alumni Gym, the Elon Phoenix and UNC Greensboro Spartans will square off for a Southern Conference battle on Senior Night on Saturday, February 19 at 8 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and be in their seats to honor three outstanding seniors — Chris Long, Scott Grable and David Meyer — as they play in front of the home crowd for the final time. The game will also be televised on SportSouth with Tom Werme on play-by-play and Daymeon Fishback providing the color commentary.

FREE THROWS
• Elon has matched is league win total from all of last season with five victories.
• Rookie Lucas Troutman has blocked 19 shots over the last eight games, giving him a total of 40 on the season. He ranks 10th on Elon’s single season list and is first in the SoCon with 1.5 per game. Troutman has had at least one block in 15 of the last 16 games.
• With a near double-double (pts/asts) at The Citadel, Chris Long ranks second in the league with 5.9 apg and first in assist-to-turnover ratio at 2.6.
• Of Elon’s top seven scorers, four are freshmen. Jack Isenbarger leads the rookies with 11.2 ppg.
Chris Long has knocked down 162 career triples and is in fourth place all-time at Elon.
Chris Long has not had more than two turnovers in each of the last eight games. He is averaging 7.4 apg in those contests with an assist-to-turnover ratio of nearly 5:1.
Drew Spradlin is quickly climbing toward the 1,000-point plateau, now at 926 career points. He is averaging 16.7 ppg against SoCon foes this year — seventh-best in the league.
Drew Spradlin is currently in sixth place all-time at Elon with 135 career three-pointers.

LAST TIME OUT
• Elon ended a five-game losing skid, its longest of the season, with a 79-72 win at The Citadel last Saturday.
Drew Spradlin netted 22 points on 6-of-12 field goals and 8-of-9 free throws.
Chris Long nearly added a third career double-double with 18 points and nine assists.
• Elon jumped out to an 18-pt lead at halftime and led by as many as 27 before it saw its lead dwindle to as few as six prior to the final horn.

ELON VS. UNC GREENSBORO
• Elon is looking for its third consecutive victory over UNC Greensboro after a 15-pt victory in early January.
• All of the Spartans wins have come since Elon last played them. UNCG is 5-5 in its last 10 games.
• Saturday night’s contest will be televised on SportSouth with Tom Werme calling the action and Daymeon Fishback providing the color commentary.
