Day 1 Results

BLAKSBURG, Va. – Senior Veronica Day earned the title in the long jump tonight in day one of competition at the Virginia Tech Challenge in Rector Fieldhouse.

Day, who set a new Elon record in the event last week, leapt to a distance of 5.92 meters to once again set a new school record.

Freshman Bria Bell set a new record in the 200-meter dash after finishing seventh with a time of 25.14. Freshman Kayleight Birks finished in 12th with a time of 25.37, which is 46 seconds faster than the record she set last week. Both Bell and Birks have set new school records in the 200-meter dash this indoor season.

The Elon track and field team will return to Rector Fieldhouse tomorrow for the conclusion of the Virginia Tech Challenge.
