White Out Alumni Gym as Elon Challenges South Division Leader CofC

ELON, N.C.
– Alumni Gym will be a sea of white with a White Out scheduled for Wednesday night’s men’s basketball game featuring the Elon Phoenix against the Southern Conference South Division leader College of Charleston (17-7, 10-2). It is the first meeting of the season between the two teams. Last year’s contest saw the Cougars pull away with an 80-77 victory in Charleston. Elon (10-14, 4-9) is looking to end a current four-game losing skid as it caps off a three-game home stretch.

FREE THROWS
• Elon is 7-4 in Alumni Gym this year, but has lost two straight in front of the home crowd.
• Rookie Lucas Troutman has blocked 14 shots over the last six games, giving him a total of 35 on the season. He moved into a tie for 10th place on Elon’s single season list. Troutman has had at least one block in 13 of the last 14 games.
• Elon is looking for its fifth SoCon win of the year, which would match its total from 2009-10.
Chris Long has knocked down 158 career triples, tying TJ Douglas for fourth place all-time at Elon.
Chris Long has not had more than two turnovers in each of the last six games. He is averaging 7.2 apg in those contests with an assist-to-turnover ratio of nearly 5:1.
Drew Spradlin is quickly climbing toward the 1,000-point plateau, now at 895 career points. He is averaging 16.8 ppg against SoCon opponents this year — eighth-best in the league.
Drew Spradlin is currently in sixth place all-time at Elon with 132 career three-pointers.

LAST TIME OUT
• Elon put together a strong first-half performance and held a six-point halftime lead, but a late rally by Appalachian State gave the Mountaineers a 68-62 win over the Phoenix on Saturday night at Alumni Gym.
• The Phoenix managed only seven second-half field goals and shot only 1-of-8 from downtown. ASU connected on 50 percent from the floor in the final period.
• Freshman Lucas Troutman led the team in scoring and rebounding for the second straight game. He came off the bench for 19 points, six rebounds and three blocks.
• With only six points, Drew Spradlin’s streak of games in double figures came to an end at 12.

ELON VS. COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
• This is Elon’s first meeting of the season against South Division leader College of Charleston. CofC escaped with an 80-77 victory against the Phoenix in the 2009-10 contest.
Chris Long and Scott Grable are the only returning Elon players who scored in double figures in last year’s game.
• The last time Elon beat the Cougars in Alumni Gym was an 87-86 overtime victory on Feb. 20, 2008.
• Senior Andrew Goudelock leads the Southern Conference and ranks fourth in country in scoring with 23.8 ppg.
