SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon field athlete Veronica Day was tabbed the Southern Conference Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Month for April, as announced by the league office today, April 7. The senior earns the honor after winning the conference’s Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week award two out of three eligible weeks this season.

The Vienna, Va., native started off the month, as well as the outdoor season, by winning the long and triple jumps at the UNC Wilmington Seahawk Invitational. Two weeks later at the Raleigh Relays, Day set the conference-leading marks in both events after finishing third in the long jump (19’2.75”) and second in the triple jump (40’4.25”). Her triple jump leap at the Raleigh Relays set a new Elon record.

Day and the rest of the Elon track and field team will next compete at the Duke Invitational Friday, April 8 – Saturday, April 9, in Durham, N.C.
