Anderson Announces Addition for 2013-14 Season

ELON, N.C. – Elon University head women’s tennis coach Elizabeth Anderson announced the addition of Tolley Rice (Pawleys Island, S.C./Waccamaw) for the 2013-14 season.

“I am thrilled that Tolley has decided to come to Elon,” Anderson said. “She has a strong work ethic and positive determination on the court and in the classroom. Tolley is a great competitor and our fans will enjoy watching her very competitive spirit and strong will to win.”

A five-star recruit on tennisrecruiting.net, Rice has earned a top-70 national ranking as a junior player and was a finalist this past fall in the 2011 Girls 18 Fall Southern Closed Championship. She also won a Girls 16 Bullfrog singles tournament and was a doubles finalist.  At Waccamaw High School under head coach Joan Cribb, Rice was undefeated in all region and state matches over the last two years, with her team winning a pair of state titles. Rice also won the class AA-A state singles championship four consecutive years. Rice is just the second player in AA-A history to win four individual titles since the system went to an open format in 1995, according to S.C. High School League records.

She is the daughter of Georgeanne and Jim Rice and plans on studying pre-med at Elon.
