Kack, Anderson Claim CAA Top Honors

Four Phoenix Named All-CAA; Kack, Anderson Lead Awards Haul

RICHMOND, Va. Elon sophomore Cornelia Kack was named CAA Player of the Year and head coach Elizabeth Anderson was tabbed as the CAA Coach of the Year as the conference released its postseason women's tennis awards on Friday.

Kack was also chosen to the All-CAA First Team for singles, as well as the Third Team for doubles along with partner Lisa Kranec. Simone Bergeron and Mariana Reding earned First Team recognition in doubles with both landing on the Second Team in singles.

Anderson repeated as CAA Coach of the Year after guiding the Phoenix to its second straight conference championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. Elon is 16-4 this season, the 20th straight winning season with double-digit victories under Anderson. Elon is currently ranked No. 74 in the ITA poll after being ranked as high as No. 58 earlier this season, the highest ranking for the Phoenix during Anderson's tenure. This is the third time Anderson has been named CAA Coach of the Year, having also won it in 2016.

Kack becomes the second Phoenix to win CAA Player of the Year, joining Bergeron, who earned the honor last season. Kack went 13-3 in singles this spring, with the wins split almost evenly across the Nos. 1 and 2 spots. The sophomore, who joined the Phoenix after winning CAA Rookie of the Year at Delaware a season ago, went 4-0 against CAA opponents, including a victory in Elon's 4-3 win over William & Mary in the conference's championship match. Kack has won 10 of her last 11 completed singles matches entering the NCAA Tournament, with seven of those victories coming in straight sets. She earned Co-CAA Player of the Week on Feb. 17 after a 2-0 showing against Liberty and George Washington.

Bergeron earned her second straight All-CAA singles appearance after making the First Team a season ago. The junior won 11 matches at the top two singles spots this season with conference victories against College of Charleston and North Carolina A&T. Bergeron picked up a ranked victory against No. 63 Old Dominion, taking down Victoria Matasova, the No. 117 ranked ITA singles player. All of Bergeron's victories came in straight sets. The junior has won double-digit singles matches in each of her first three seasons with the Phoenix and is up to 35 career dual victories. This fall, Bergeron represented the conference at ITA Conference Masters, becoming the first Elon player to do so.

Reding joined her doubles partner on the Second Team for singles. The junior is 15-2 this season at the No. 3 spot and is riding a 12-match winning streak into the NCAA Tournament, the longest winning streak by a Phoenix since Olivia Archer won her final 15 outings in 2023. Reding has won 15 of her last 16 completed matches, taking 30 of the 34 sets played in those contests. Reding won a pair of matches at the CAA Tournament, including Elon's crucial third point in its 4-3 decision against William & Mary in the championship match, to earn the tournament's Most Outstanding Player award. Reding went 5-0 in CAA matches this spring and was named CAA Player of the Week on March 3. The junior is up to 43 career dual singles victories, tied for the 15th most in program history. This is Reding's second straight appearance on the Second Team for singles.

Bergeron and Reding teamed up for their second straight First Team doubles selection. Elon's No. 1 pairing is 13-5 playing the top spot this season, with four of the victories coming against CAA opponents. The duo won both its matches in the CAA Tournament, clinching Elon's doubles point in the semifinals against Drexel. Bergeron and Reding have won five straight completed matches entering the NCAA Tournament. The duo was tabbed as the CAA Doubles Team of the Week on April 14, their second time securing the weekly award. In the last two seasons, Bergeron and Reding are 31-9 playing No. 1 doubles for the Phoenix. Both Bergeron and Reding have cracked the top 15 on Elon's all-time doubles wins list this spring, with Bergeron at 46 career victories and Reding close behind at 45.

Elon's winningest doubles team this season was Kack and Kranec, who landed on the Third Team for doubles. Kack and Kranec are 14-3 this spring, which includes a 4-0 mark in CAA matches. The duo won both its CAA Tournament matches, clinching the doubles point for the Phoenix in the conference championship tilt against William & Mary. The pairing won back-to-back matches by 6-0 scorelines against UConn (March 19) and Queens (March 21) and had an eight-match winning streak earlier this season.

The No. 74 Phoenix returns to its second straight NCAA Tournament on Saturday, opening against No. 31 Charlotte in Athens, Georgia. The first-round contest will begin at 10 a.m.
