ELON, N.C. – The Elon University women’s tennis team hosted its annual United States Tennis Association (USTA) Campus Kids’ Day this past weekend at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
 
The Phoenix women welcomed local youth out to the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in between its matches against North Carolina Central and North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday, Feb. 9, to participate in a variety of tennis exercises. 
 
“It was great being able to spend time with the kids while doing something I love,” said Elon junior standout, Jordan Johnston. “It gave our team a great opportunity to form a good relationship with the people in the community while having a fun time. We have a good number of supporters from the area that come out to our matches so being able to give something back to them is very rewarding. It was a blast seeing the kids improve their tennis and have a good time doing it.”
 
USTA Campus Kids Days are designed to expose current and aspiring junior players (and their parents and coaches) to college tennis.
 
Elon returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center with a pair of matches against USC Upstate and North Carolina Central.
