Sophomore distance harrier
Kimberly Johansen has had an extraordinary 2015 campaign during the track and field season. The Chelmsford, England, native broke her own indoor school-record in the 1,000-meters with a time of 2:53 as well as making her way to the top of the program's indoor performance list in the one-mile run (4:49.88) and 800-meter run (2:09.02). Those performances helped qualify Johansen for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship meet in Boston.
She continued her strong performance transitioning to the outdoor season, setting the school-record in the outdoor 800-meter run at the prestigious Raleigh Relays on March 28 with a time of 2:11.19. She also clocked the second-fastest outdoor time in program history in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:27.32 at the meet. Those efforts earned Johansen the Colonial Athletic Association Track Athlete of the Week.
Heading into the CAA Outdoor Championships at the William & Mary this weekend, Johansen holds the fastest time in the league in the 1,500-meters and the fourth-fastest mark in the 800-meters.
