Former Elon Standout Ford Joins Team USA in Jones Cup

ELON, N.C. – Former Elon women's basketball star Ali Ford '13 was recently selected to represent the United States in the 36th annual FIBA William Jones Cup. The international tournament began on Sunday, July 27, and runs through Saturday, August 1, in Taipei, Taiwan.

Ford finished her basketball career at Elon second on the program's all-time scoring list and seventh on the Southern Conference list with 2,020 points. The Morganton, N.C., native owns Elon and the SoCon's three-point record (338 three-pointers) and is one of only five players in SoCon history to earn all-SoCon honors four times. Ford was two-sport athlete for the Phoenix, also playing for the Elon softball program from 2012-2014. She earned her degree in sport and event management from Elon in May 2013.

The Jones Cup is being played at the University Campus Stadium in Taipei in a five game round-robin formant. The U.S. last won gold in the women's tournament in 2000.
