ELON, N.C. – The Elon women's soccer team is back at Rudd Field on Friday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. against Coastal Carolina, followed by a road trip to Greensboro, N.C. on Sunday, Sept. 13 to take on UNCG at 7 p.m.

Series HistoryElon and Coastal Carolina will be meeting for the 13th time on Friday. The Phoenix lead the all-time series 8-3-1 overall and have won four of the last five matchups. Elon defeated the Chanticleers 1-0 in the last matchup on Sept. 12, 2014 during the UNCW Hilton Garden Inn Mayfaire Invitational.

The match against the Spartans will renew an old South Conference rivalry on Sunday. It will be the 20th meeting between the two squads, but UNCG leads the series 17-1-1 against Elon. The Phoenix earned its first win in the series the last time the teams met in 2013. Elon defeated the Spartans 3-0 on Sept. 5, 2013.

About the PhoenixThe Phoenix (4-1) is off to one of its best starts in program history as they have won four of their first five matches for the first time since 2010. Elon was perfect last weekend with a 1-0 victory over North Florida on Sept. 4, and a 5-0 win at South Carolina State on Sept. 6.

Kelly Siewers, and
Tori Baliatico each have two goals this season to lead the Phoenix. In the 5-0 win over the Bulldogs on Sunday, four players scored and all of them recorded their first goals of the 2015 season.

In his eighth season at the helm and second in the Colonial Athletic Association, head coach
Chris Neal and Elon has 22 returning players and seven starters from a team that experienced their first season in the CAA last season. Neal also added 10 new freshmen to the fold in his 2015 recruiting class. The Phoenix finished 5-12 overall last season.

Sydney Schilling will be back with Bennett as she finished second in goals last season. The Phoenix have strong leadership as they have seven seniors for the upcoming season.

Scouting Coastal CarolinaThe Chanticleers (3-3) are looking to move a game over .500 against Elon. Like the Phoenix, Coastal Carolina has played a ton of road games to start the season, five of their first six matches to be exact. Two of the team's three victories have come on the road this season with wins at Wofford (Aug. 21) and UAB (Sept. 4). Kayla Christian leads Coastal Carolina at the start of the season with four goals and one assist for nine total points. Daniella Famili is right behind her with three goals and one assist.

Scouting UNCGThe Spartans (1-5) have had a tough schedule to start the season, playing two opponents ranked in the top-25 in Kentucky (Aug. 28) and Virginia Tech (Sept. 4). The match against the Phoenix on Sunday will be UNCG's third home match of the season, and first of five consecutive at UNCG Soccer Stadium. The team's lone victory this season was on Aug. 30 in a 2-0 win at Eastern Kentucky.

Up NextThe Phoenix will have another non-conference home and road match split next weekend. The team travels to Gardner-Webb on Friday, Sept. 18, for a 7 p.m. kickoff. Elon will be back at Rudd Field on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m. against Charlotte.
