RICHMOND, Va. – Senior
Jen Esposito of the Elon University women's track and field team was named the Colonial Athletic Association Track Athlete of the Week as released by the league office on Tuesday, March 29.
Esposito had a highly successful weekend at the prestigious Raleigh Relays as the Mansfield, Mass., native won the 400-meter hurdles at the meet. Esposito clocked a time of 58.01 in the race – the only runner with a time under the one-minute mark – and beat out other notable athletes from Duke and Nike in the field. That time is currently seventh in the NCAA East Region rankings.
She later helped both the 4x100 and the 4x400-meter relay teams to a pair of top-two performances in the conference this season. In the 4x100, Esposito aided the quartet to a 46.86, which was eighth overall and third all-time in school history. As a member of the 4x400-meter team, Esposito helped the group to a 3:48.05 in the race, which was sixth overall at the meet.
Esposito and the Phoenix are back in competition this week as Elon travels to High Point, N.C., for the VertKlasse Meeting Friday through Saturday, April 1-2.
