WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The second-seeded Elon University women's tennis team defeated seventh-seeded Drexel 4-1 in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championships on Friday, April 22, at the Wake Forest Indoor Tennis Center.

THE HIGHLIGHTS
The match began with singles action, and Elon won four of the five matches that were completed to claim the 4-1 victory.

Erica Braschi earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Clary Rodriguez Cruz to give Elon a 1-0 lead.
Kirsten Ward's 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 5 made it a 2-0 advantage for the Phoenix.

Suzanne Zenoni was next to finish, claiming a 7-5, 6-3 victory to stretch Elon's lead to 3-0.

Drexel (13-7) earned its lone point with a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles before
Taylor Casey clinched the match for the Phoenix with a three-set, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 6 singles.

Olivia Lucas was knotted in a tight third set at the top singles position but didn't finish.

UP NEXT
With the win, the Phoenix improves to 14-9 and advances to the semifinals. Elon will face the winner of third-seeded James Madison and sixth-seeded Towson at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
