ELON, N.C. – Elon Univeristy women's basketball will go for its eighth-straight victory on Friday night, Jan. 13, at 6:30 p.m. when it takes on College of Charleston inside TD Arena. Elon is the only team in the CAA that has not lost in conference play, owning an 11-4 overall record with a 3-0 mark in conference action to date. Friday's game can be watched on CAA.tv and can be heard on Phoenix All-Access.

THE SERIES: Elon and Charleston will meet for the second time in 12 days when the two battle at TD Arena Friday night. After Elon's win last Monday, the Phoenix and Cougars are tied 14-14 in the all-time series.

ABOUT CofC: Charleston has won two in a row since falling to Elon to open CAA play in beating William & Mary and UNCW. Last time out, CofC defeated the Seahawks 76-37. Reigning CAA Player of the Week Breanna Bolden leads CofC in averaging 17.8 points per game this season. In three CAA Games, Bolden has averaged 22.0 points per contest with 12 rebounds per game.

LOOKING BACK: Elon posted its largest conference win to date as a member of the CAA with a 69-42 win over Delaware on Sunday. Essence Baucom tallied a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds while Shay Burnett notched just eight points but tied her career-high with 15 rebounds. In all, Elon pulled down 62 boards, which tied for the fourth-most in a game in program history and was the second-most in a game under head coach Charlotte Smith.

ON A ROLL: Elon has now won seven games in a row, the most consecutive wins under Charlotte Smith in her five-plus seasons at the helm of the program. Last time the Phoenix won seven games in a row came during the 2010-11 season from Jan. 3 to Jan. 22 in Southern Conference play.

CLIMBING HIGH: Elon checked in this week as the top mid-major in the NCAA RPI rankings at No. 24. The Phoenix also cracked the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major poll, ranking No. 24 on that list. The jump from receiving votes to No. 24 was helped by topping last week's No. 1 - Drexel - on Friday night, 48-45.

MILESTONE WATCH: Senior guard Lauren Brown has accumulated 951 career points heading into Monday. Not far behind, senior forward Jenifer Rhodes has 894 career points and junior guard Shay Burnett has tallied 901 career points.

HISTORY IN THE MAKING: Charlotte Smith, now in her sixth season with the Phoenix, owns a career-record of 98-74. She has led Elon to back-to-back WNIT appearances and three postseason appearances in five years. Her teams have won at least 18 games in three of the last four seasons.

LOOKING AHEAD: The Phoenix returns home Sunday afternoon for a 3 p.m. tip against Drexel on American Sports Network. Elon beat Drexel for the first time in program history last Friday, winning 48-45 in Philadelphia.
