The Elon University softball team welcomed four new members of the program for the 2017 season this past fall in first-year players Walker Barbee, Nicole Graber, Kenna Quinn and Morgan Reich. Get a chance to know each of them in a series leading up to the season called "Seven Innings."
 
Today's feature focuses on Quinn, a pitcher from Boiling Springs, S.C. She helped her high school to the 2015 region championship and was selected as the All-State and 4A State Player of the Year. She also played travel ball for the Carolina Elite and helped them to the 2014 South Carolina state championship.

Describe your first semester so far as a collegiate student-athlete. What has or was the biggest adjustment?
"It was really hard, but fun at the same time. The biggest adjustment I had to make was starting my work early as opposed to waiting until the last minute.

What was your favorite memory from this fall season?
"When we beat North Carolina for my first college game."

How old were you when you began to compete in softball?
"Seven."

What routines or superstitions do you have before or during the game and why?
"I always wear a bow in my hair and I pray before every game. I have always worn a bow and my uniform just doesn't look complete without it in my opinion. I pray because it is just something I have always done and it calms me down and keeps me in the moment."

What has been your most embarrassing softball moment?
"When I got hit in the face in 11^th grade with a line drive while I was pitching. It hurt more than it was embarrassing but it was still kind of embarrassing."

Who is your softball role model?
"Jennie Finch."

What are you looking forward to the most this upcoming year?
"I am looking forward to a successful first season with my teammates and hopefully a lot of wins."
