HONOLULU – Elon University men's tennis made quick work of Hawaii on Wednesday, March 22, taking down the Rainbow Warriors 6-1 at UH Tennis Complex during the team's global experience trip.

The win, Elon's second in a row after defeating College of Charleston 5-2 last week, moves Elon to 8-9 on the season with Hawaii falling to 1-8.

The Rundown
Elon got off to a hot start with
Salvador Mijares and
Neal Port extending their winning streak to eight in a row with a 6-1 win over Igor Kolaric and Fabian Woehrl.
Felipe Sarrasague and
Louis Rico then finished off the doubles point with a 6-4 win at No. 3 over Spencer Travalino and Eric Kenneth to give the Phoenix a 1-0 lead.

In singles, the Phoenix continued its dominance with three consecutive singles wins.
Jacob Bicknell got things started with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5. He was followed by Mijares's 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 and a 6-2, 6-4 win by Sarrasague at No. 1 to make it 4-0 Phoenix.

Though Elon's bid for a sweep ended with a loss at No. 4, the Phoenix finished strong with
Petar Tomic winning a second come-from-behind match in a row at No. 3 by the score of 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (7) and
Chris Humphreys earning another come-from-behind win at No. 6, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5.

Notes
- After sitting out the first 12 matches of the season,
Jacob Bicknell has won three of his five singles contests to date. In his wins, he has won all three in straight sets with a combined score of 36-10.
- Four of
Petar Tomic's six singles wins this season have seen the senior come back from dropping his first set. Additionally, each of his last three singles wins have been in come-from-behind fashion.
- Following a rough doubles start to the year for
Neal Port and
Salvador Mijares when the duo started 1-2 with one match unfinished, the two have won eight decisions in a row dating back to Feb. 18 against James Madison.

Up Next
Elon will continue its global experience trip in Hawaii this week before returning home for the stretch run of the campaign starting next Friday, March 31, back at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center against Coastal Carolina. Two days later on April 2, the Phoenix will host Winthrop and will hold Senior Day festivities prior to the match.
