ELON, N.C. - With the Colonial Athletic Association regular season complete, Elon University women's lacrosse has earned the No. 3 seed in the 2018 CAA Tournament and will take on second-seeded Towson on Friday, May 4, at Sentara Park in Harrisonburg, Va.
The Phoenix and Tigers will be the second contest of the day after top-seeded James Madison and fourth-seeded Delaware battle in the first semifinal at 4 p.m. James Madison is hosting the tournament this year after winning the CAA regular-season and tournament titles in 2017. Should Elon advance, the Phoenix would battle the Dukes or Blue Hens on Sunday, May 6, at 1 p.m. All three CAA Tournament games will air on Lax Sports Network.
The 2018 CAA Semifinal matchup between Elon and Towson marks the third-straight year the two teams meet for a spot in the title game. In 2016, Towson defeated Elon 8-6 in Philadelphia. Last season in Maryland at Johnny Unitas Stadium, Elon took a 10-9 overtime victory over Towson to advance to its first conference tournament final in program history.
