Zenoni Wins Doubles Main Draw at Tuscaloosa ITA Summer Circuit

FINAL DRAWS

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Elon University women's tennis rising senior, Suzanne Zenoni, claimed the main draw doubles title at the Tuscaloosa Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Summer Circuit, July 7-9, which was hosted by the University of Alabama at the Alabama Tennis Stadium and the Roberta Alison Baumgardner Tennis Facility.

Zenoni paired with Ally Bojczuk of Notre Dame, who were the No. 2 seed, claimed the title with a 6-3 victory over No. 1-seeded Andie Daniell of Alabama and Chloe Hamlin of Georgia in the championship match. Daniell finished with a No. 87 ranking nationally in doubles and a No. 101 ranking as a singles player in the final 2017-18 ITA rankings. Hamlin is one of Georgia's top recruits heading into the 2018-19 season.

She cruised from the Round of 16 to the championship match as Zenoni and Bojczuk only dropped two games before reaching the final.

Additionally, Zenoni competed in the singles main draw of the tournament and reached the semifinals, falling to her doubles partner and eventual singles champion Daniell. Zenoni advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Katie Fitt of BYU in the Round of 16, followed by a 6-2, 3-6, 10-5 victory against Sophie Abrams to set up a semifinals matchup against Daniell.

Daniell, who was an All-SEC First Team selection in 2017-18 as a junior, pulled off the 6-1, 6-1 win over Zenoni and defeated Bojczuk in the final to claim the Tuscaloosa Summer Circuit singles title.

Zenoni continues from where she left off last season after completing the 2017-18 campaign with a team-high 16 singles wins, as well as 11 doubles victories. The rising senior finished with a 16-8 overall mark in singles action and earned CAA Co-Player of the Week honors on April 10. She ended the season winning seven of her last eight singles matches. For her efforts, Zenoni was named the team's Most Valuable Player at the end of the season.
