ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball will be back in action on Monday, Dec. 30, when it hosts William & Mary for a 7:00 p.m. matchup at Schar Center in Elon, N.C.

• Elon's contest against William & Mary will be streamed live on CBS Sports Network.

THE MATCHUP
• This marks the 18th time in program history that Elon and William & Mary will meet in a regular season contest.
• In the most recent meeting, William & Mary defeated Elon 84-74 on Feb. 16, 2019.
• Elon trails W&M 3-14 in the overall series.
 
ABOUT ELON
• So far this season, Elon is off to a 4-9 start, with all four wins on the year coming at Schar Center.
• The Phoenix is led by senior guard Marcus Sheffield who is posting 16.6 points per game to go along with 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per contest.
• Rookies Hunter McIntosh and Hunter Woods are combining to average 20.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per outing.
• Simon Wright ranks second on the team in rebounding at 5.3 per game, adding 6.7 points per game as well.
• Elon is led by first year head coach Mike Schrage, who spent two seasons as an assistant at Ohio State before becoming Elon's head coach.
• Freshman Guard Hunter McIntosh garnered CAA Rookie of the Week honors, the league announced on Dec. 16. McIntosh was selected by the conference after scoring a team-high 15 points, while adding three assists, two rebounds and two steals in Elon's dominant 91-60 win over North Carolina Wesleyan. McIntosh was on fire all game, going 5-of-5 from downtown in a contest that saw Elon tie a Division I program record with 19 made threes.
• Freshman forward Hunter Woods was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Dec. 9. Woods earned the honor after averaging 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in games against Kennesaw State and High Point.
• The Phoenix have no seniors on the roster with the exception of graduate transfer Marcus Sheffield, who earned a Preseason All-CAA honorable mention.
• Additionally, the Phoenix made six new additions to the squad for 2019-20 in first-year players Hunter McIntosh, Hunter Woods, Zac Ervin and Ben Daugherty, while also adding two transfers in Marcus Sheffield (Stanford) and Jerald Gillens-Butler (Butler).
 
SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
• William & Mary is a Division I institution out of Williamsburg, Va. that competes in the Colonial Athletic Association
• The Tribe is off to an 8-5 start this season, after falling to Saint Francis 78-72 in its most recent outing
• W&M is in its first season under head coach Dane Fischer, who served as an assistant coach at George Mason for the past four seasons.
• The Tribe is led by Nathan Knight., who leads the team in scoring (19.9 ppg) and rebounding (9.9 rpg).
  
LAST TIME OUT
• In its most recent outing, Elon fell to Winthrop 85-80.
• The Phoenix was led by senior guard Marcus Sheffield, who dropped a season-high 27 points, four rebounds and three assists on the evening. Freshman guard Hunter McIntosh chipped in a career-high 22 points in the loss.

UP NEXT
Following the contest against William & Mary, Elon will continue CAA play against Northeastern. The Phoenix's matchup with the Huskies will take place on Thursday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m. in Boston, Ma.
