McGlynn, Feldman Claim CAA Lacrosse Weekly Honors

2/12/2019 10:00:00 AM

ELON, N.C. – Elon University women's lacrosse athletes Mae McGlynn and Bella Feldman were honored Tuesday morning, Feb. 12, with CAA weekly honors after helping the Phoenix to a 15-5 triumph on the road against Campbell over the weekend.

McGlynn, who scored a team- and career-high five goals in the victory, is the CAA's Player of the Week while Feldman has been named Rookie of the Week accolades.

McGlynn's five goals more than tripled her career total to date, as the sophomore from Skaneateles, N.Y., scored just twice in her 2018 rookie campaign. Four of her goals came in the first half during Elon's 6-0 run that took the lead from 3-2 to a commanding 9-2 advantage.

Making her collegiate debut, Feldman scored four times on six shots to help Elon to the victory. The Brielle, N.J., capitalized on free position attempts, converting on 3-of-4 shots.

With the strong performances, the duo helped Elon to its fifth consecutive true road victory going back to March 2018. During the run, it has defeated Coastal Carolina, Hofstra, Delaware, Drexel and Campbell on their home fields.

Elon will be back in action this weekend on Saturday, Feb. 16, when it welcomes No. 16 Virginia for the 2019 home opener. The game is the first of nine home games at Rudd Field this season with Elon getting set to host the likes of Duke, Florida and North Carolina with CAA foes Hofstra, Drexel and Delaware coming to visit throughout the spring. All home lacrosse games are free to attend.
