ELON – Elon women's lacrosse alumna
Sammy Fisher '25 helped Team Israel earn a historic bronze medal earlier this month at the World Lacrosse Women's Championship in Tokyo, Japan.
Fisher and Israel defeated the Haudenosaunee 7-4 in the
bronze medal game to secure Israel's first ever medal at the tournament. With three goals in the contest, Fisher was named Player of the Match.
Over the course of the tournament, Fisher tallied 13 points and 12 goals, which were both the second most on the team. Fisher scored in all six games during the tournament with three hat tricks. Israel went undefeated in group play and advanced to the semifinals before falling to the United States, who went on to win the gold medal.
The medal is the second Fisher has been a part of this summer, as she also helped Israel win gold at the European Box Championships in July. With this bronze medal, Team Israel is up to third in the women's national field rankings, the highest ever ranking for the country.
Fisher was a four-year standout at Elon from 2022-25 and scored 158 points with the Phoenix, the third-most in program history. A two-time All-CAA selection, her 128 goals are also the second-most ever by an Elon player.
