Phoenix Closes Regular Season With Split Home and Road Weekend

ELON, N.C. – Closing out the regular season with a split home and road weekend, Elon will visit William & Mary for the CAA finale on Friday, April 26, at 7 p.m. before coming home for Senior Day on Sunday, April 28, for a 1 p.m. contest against Coastal Carolina.

THE GAMES ARE...
-...the 101st and 102nd games in program history
-...the 49th road game and the 47th home game in program history
-...Elon's third time visiting William & Mary and third time hosting Coastal Carolina in program history
-...Josh Hexter's 215th and 216th games as a college head coach and 101st and 102nd at Elon
-...Elon's 28th game against a CAA opponent during regular-season play and Elon's third game against a Sun Belt program

A WIN FRIDAY WOULD...
-...be the 48th win in program history
-...be the 120th win for head coach Josh Hexter in his career
-...be Elon's third win over William & Mary in program history
-...be Elon's 14th win over a CAA opponent

SCOUTING WILLIAM & MARY
-Hosting its Senior Night on Friday, William & Mary is 6-8 on the season with a 1-4 record in CAA action. It's already a two-win improvement from 2018, when William & Mary went 4-12 with an 0-5 CAA record.
-The Tribe is led by Belle Martire's 43 goals. She also had 19 draw controls and 14 ground balls on the season. Elsa Rall has started all 14 games in the cage and has a 12.52 goals against average with a .422 save percentage.

SCOUTING COASTAL CAROLINA
-Entering Sunday's game with a five-game winning streak, Coastal Carolina is 12-4 on the year and went 4-2 in Sun Belt action.
-Two of CCU's losses this year are to teams Elon played in Winthrop and Liberty. The Chanticleers lost to Winthrop 11-7 and fell 11-10 to Liberty. Elon topped Winthrop 23-4 and fell 10-6 to the Flames.
-Haley Alexander leads the team with 51 goals and 18 assists for 69 points. Samantha Courtemanche also has 38 goals and 21 assists for 59 points on the year.
-Harley Barrett has started all 16 games in goal and has a 9.25 goals against average with a .512 save percentage.

THE SERIES vs. WILLIAM & MARY
-Friday's game will mark the first meeting between Elon and William & Mary since the 2017 season. Last season's contest between the two sides was canceled due to illness making its way through the Tribe locker room.
-Elon owns a 2-1 series lead against the Tribe. In 2017, Elon earned an 18-4 victory in the regular-season finale to enter CAA Tournament action on a high note on the way to beating second-seeded Towson for its first tournament victory in program history.

THE SERIES vs. COASTAL CAROLINA
-The Phoenix is a perfect 5-0 against the Chanticleers and has won the last two games between the two programs by a combined score of 29-12.
-A season ago, Elon earned the road win against Coastal Carolina with a 14-6 victory. 
-Since allowing 10 goals in the first-ever meeting, Elon has not given up more than six goals in a game against CCU in the four outings since.

LAST TIME OUT
-Going down early against the defending CAA and national champion James Madison Dukes, Elon couldn't recover with the Dukes taking a 16-8 win in Harrisonburg, Va.
-Cami Lynch, Cate Mackel and Kaley Thompson each scored two goals apiece to lead the Phoenix with Thompson adding an assist for a team-best three points.

PRESEASON ALL-CAA LISTS
-Elon was picked third in the CAA for the third consecutive season. The Phoenix has reached the CAA Tournament as the No. 3 seed in each of the last three seasons and has battled second-seeded Towson on all three occasions in the semifinals.
-Quinn Daly was picked as a Preseason All-CAA honorable mention in 2019 after earning CAA All-Rookie accolades after her first season in 2018.

CAA WEEKLY HONORS
-Mae McGlynn was named the CAA Player of the Week on Feb. 11 after her five-goal performance against Campbell in the season opener.
-Bella Feldman was tabbed CAA Rookie of the Week on Feb. 11 after scoring four goals at Campbell in her collegiate debut.
-Kaley Thompson picked up CAA Rookie of the Week on Feb. 26 after a week with four goals, five assists and 13 draw controls in Elon's two games. Against Winthrop, Thompson finished with four goals, four assists and eight draw controls. 
-Thompson earned a second CAA Rookie of the Week honor on April 8 after scoring six goals against Drexel in Elon's CAA opener. In all, she tallied seven goals and had nine draw controls during Elon's CAA opening weekend. 

ELON ON LAX SPORTS NETWORK
-This season, Elon was featured twice on Lax Sports Network during CAA play.
-The first occasion came Friday, April 12, when Elon took on Towson in Maryland. Elon's second appearance on LSN came last Friday, April 19, when it met James Madison.
-The 2019 CAA Championships in Harrisonburg, Va., will also air on LSN.

UP NEXT
-With a win Friday, Elon would earn the No. 4 seed in the upcoming CAA Tournament in Harrisonburg, Va. In the semifinals of the tournament, it would meet No. 1 seed James Madison at 4:05 p.m. on Lax Sports Network.
-With a loss on Friday to the Tribe, Elon's season would come to an end on Sunday against Coastal Carolina.
