ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball will be back in action on Thursday, Jan. 23, to continue CAA play against Towson.

COVERAGE
• Elon's contest against Towson will be streamed live on FloSports.
• Listen to the Elon IMG Sports Network coverage on Phoenix All-Access or on the TuneIn app. Taylor Durham and Brian Morris will have the call from Schar Center, with the pregame show beginning at 6:30 p.m.

THE MATCHUP
• This marks the 12th time in program history that Elon will take on Towson
• In the most recent meeting, Elon defeated Towson, 86-66, on March 2, 2019.
• Elon currently trails Towson 5-6 in the all-time series
 
ABOUT ELON
• So far this season, Elon is off to a 5-15 start, with all five wins on the year coming at Schar Center.
• The Phoenix is led by senior guard Marcus Sheffield who is posting 16.3 points per game to go along with 4.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest.
• Rookies Hunter McIntosh and Hunter Woods are combining to average 20.8 points and 9.4 rebounds per outing.
• Simon Wright ranks second on the team in rebounding at 5.7 per game, adding 7.3 points per game as well.
• Elon is led by first year head coach Mike Schrage, who spent two seasons as an assistant at Ohio State before becoming Elon's head coach.
• Freshman forward Zac Ervin earned the CAA Rookie of the Week award after leading the team in scoring (18 ppg) during a 1-1 week for Elon. Ervin scored a career-high 27 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, including a career-best 7-of-12 from beyond the arc in the Phoneix's 80-63 win over UNCW.
• Freshman guard Hunter McIntosh garnered CAA Rookie of the Week honors, the league announced on Dec. 16. McIntosh was selected by the conference after scoring a team-high 15 points, while adding three assists, two rebounds and two steals in Elon's dominant 91-60 win over North Carolina Wesleyan. McIntosh was on fire all game, going 5-of-5 from downtown in a contest that saw Elon tie a Division I program record with 19 made threes.
• Freshman forward Hunter Woods was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Dec. 9. Woods earned the honor after averaging 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in games against Kennesaw State and High Point.
• Ervin joined fellow freshmen Hunter Woods and Hunter McIntosh, as they became the first trio of Elon freshman to each earn a Rookie of the Week award in the same season. 
• This marks the first time that the CAA has had three different freshmen from the same team each win a Rookie of the Week Award in the same season since Charleston in 2015-16, and seventh overall since the conference began announcing the award in 2002-03.
• Woods and McIntosh became the first pair of Elon freshman to win the conference Rookie of the Week award in back-to-back weeks.
• The Phoenix have no seniors on the roster with the exception of graduate transfer Marcus Sheffield, who earned a Preseason All-CAA honorable mention.
• Additionally, the Phoenix made six new additions to the squad for 2019-20 in first-year players Hunter McIntosh, Hunter Woods, Zac Ervin and Ben Daugherty, while also adding two transfers in Marcus Sheffield (Stanford) and Jerald Gillens-Butler (Butler).
 
SCOUTING TOWSON
• The Tigers are off to a 10-9 start this season, after defeating James Madison 69-61 in their most recent outing
• Delware is in its ninth season under head coach Pat Skerry, who served as an assistant coach at Pittsburgh for one season prior to becoming the head coach at Towson.
• The Tigers are led by Brian Fobbs, who leads the team in scoring at 15.9 points per game. Nakye Sanders is the team's top rebounder at 6.8 rpg, while adding 9.2 ppg as well.
  
LAST TIME OUT
• Elon University men's basketball fell to Delaware, 79-78, on Saturday, Jan. 18.
• The Phoenix was led by freshman forward Hunter Woods, who dropped 15 points, eight rebounds and three assists on the evening. Sophomore guard Andy Pack chipped in a career-high 16 points and four rebounds, while freshman guard Hunter McIntosh added 10 points, seven assists and five rebounds.
 

UP NEXT
Following the contest against Towson, Elon will remain at home to continue CAA play against James Madison. The Phoenix's matchup with the Dukes will take place at Schar Center on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 4 p.m.
