ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball will be back in action on Thursday, Jan. 30, to continue CAA play against Hofstra.

COVERAGE
• Elon's contest against Hofstra will be streamed live on FloSports.
• Listen to the Elon IMG Sports Network coverage on Phoenix All-Access or on the TuneIn app. Taylor Durham and Brian Morris will have the call from Schar Center, with the pregame show beginning at 6:30 p.m.

THE MATCHUP
• This marks the 13th time in program history that Elon will take on JMU
• In the most recent meeting, Elon fell to Hofstra, 102-75, on Jan. 4, 2020.
• Elon currently trails Hofstra 3-9 in the all-time series
 
ABOUT ELON
• Elon currently ranks first in the CAA and 14th nationally in 3-point field goals made per game at 10.1, while ranking second in the CAA in 3-point FG percentage (36.0).
• Elon's 82-73 victory over JMU snapped a five-game losing streak.
• The Phoenix's 19 made threes against N.C. Wesleyan tied a program record, while also being tied for the ninth most in a single game in the NCAA this season.
• Elon currently ranks third in the CAA in assists per game (13.8) and first in assist to turnover ratio (1.2).
• The Phoenix is led by senior guard Marcus Sheffield who ranks seventh in the CAA in scoring at 16.9 points per game.
• Rookies Hunter McIntosh and Hunter Woods are combining to average 20.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and 5.0 assists per outing.
• Senior guard Marcus Sheffield earned a CAA Player of the Week Honorable Mention after leading the team in scoring (23.0 ppg) during a 1-1 week for Elon. Sheffield scored a season-high 31 points while grabbing nine rebounds in a 82-73 Phoenix win over JMU.
• Freshman forward Zac Ervin earned the CAA Rookie of the Week award after leading the team in scoring (18 ppg) during a 1-1 week for Elon. Ervin scored a career-high 27 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, including a career-best 7-of-12 from beyond the arc in the Phoneix's 80-63 win over UNCW.
• Freshman guard Hunter McIntosh garnered CAA Rookie of the Week honors, the league announced on Dec. 16. McIntosh was selected by the conference after scoring a team-high 15 points, while adding three assists, two rebounds and two steals in Elon's dominant 91-60 win over North Carolina Wesleyan.
• Freshman forward Hunter Woods was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Dec. 9. Woods earned the honor after averaging 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in games against Kennesaw State and High Point.
• Zac Ervin joined fellow freshmen Hunter Woods and Hunter McIntosh, as they became the first trio of Elon freshman to each earn a Rookie of the Week award in the same season. 
• This marks the first time that the CAA has had three different freshmen from the same team each win a Rookie of the Week Award in the same season since Charleston in 2015-16, and seventh overall since the conference began announcing the award in 2002-03.
 
SCOUTING HOFSTRA
• The Pride is off to a 15-7 start this season, after defeating Drexel, 72-59, in their most recent outing
• Hofstra is in its seventh season under head coach Joe Mihalich, who led the team to a National Invitational Tournament (NIT) appearance last season
• The Pride is led by Desure Buie, who leads the team in scoring (18.4 ppg) and assists (5.3 apg). Isaac Kante is the team's top rebounder at 7.2 rpg, while adding 10.5 ppg as well.
  
LAST TIME OUT
• Elon University men's basketball picked up its second conference win of the season, 82-73, against James Madison on Saturday, Jan. 25.
• The Phoenix was led by senior guard Marcus Sheffield, who dropped a season-high 31 points and nine rebounds on the evening. Freshman guard Hunter McIntosh chipped in 12 points and a career-high 10 assists to secure his first collegiate double-double. Freshman forward Hunter Woods added 15 points and a team-high 11 rebounds in the win.

UP NEXT
Following the contest against Hofstra, Elon will remain at home to continue CAA play against Northeastern. The Phoenix's matchup with the Huskies will take place at Schar Center on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 4 p.m.
