FERRUM, Va. – Elon University head softball coach
Kathy Bocock, a former multi-sport student-athlete at Ferrum College, is one of six individuals slated to be inducted into the school's Alumni Hall of Fame Class of 2020.
"When the new athletic director at Ferrum College (John Sutyak) had called me and asked if I would accept being inducted into the Hall of Fame, I was very humbled," said Bocock. "Over the years, there've been a lot of people that have gone into the Hall of Fame at Ferrum so I was very excited when I was offered. For me to be in the class of 2020 with the other named inductees, I am humbled and honored to join them."
Bocock played three sports at Ferrum from 1981-83: basketball two years, and softball and volleyball one year each. She was named the Co-Female Athlete of the Year in 1982-83 and served as a captain of the basketball team when Ferrum was a junior college. After a year on the basketball team at Radford, Bocock returned to Ferrum (then as a four-year school) and earned her bachelor's degree in recreation and leisure studies in 1986.
With the coronavirus pandemic, Ferrum will delay holding an in-person induction ceremony until a safe and suitable date can be determined.
