ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 6, to continue CAA play against UNCW.

COVERAGE
- Elon's contest against UNCW will be streamed live on FloSports.

THE MATCHUP
- This marks the 23rd time in program history that Elon will take on UNCW
- In the most recent meeting, Elon defeated UNCW, 80-63, on Jan. 11, 2020.
- The all-time series between Elon and UNCW is currently tied 11-11

- Elon currently ranks first in the CAA and 16th nationally in 3-point field goals made per game at 9.9, while ranking second in the CAA in 3-point FG percentage (36.0).
- Elon has won two of the last three games – over JMU and Northeastern respectively.
- Against Northeastern, Elon set new season-highs in field goal percentage (61.4) and three-point field goal percentage (52.6) despite attempting a season low number of field goals (44)
- The Phoenix's 19 made threes against N.C. Wesleyan is tied for the ninth most in a single game in the NCAA this season.
- The Phoenix currently ranks third in the CAA in assists per game (13.5) and first in assist to turnover ratio (1.1).
- Elon ranks second the CAA in defensive rebound percentage at 76.1%
- Freshman guard Hunter McIntosh ranks ninth in the CAA in assists per game (3.0)
- The Phoenix is led by senior guard Marcus Sheffield who ranks seventh in the CAA in scoring is at 17.5 points per game.
- Rookies Hunter McIntosh and Hunter Woods are combining to average 21.0 points, 9.4 rebounds and 4.80 assists per outing.
- Freshman guard Hunter McIntosh was named the CAA Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after scoring a career-high 24 points on 8-of-9 shooting in Elon's 74-60 win over Northeastern.
- Senior guard Marcus Sheffield earned a CAA Player of the Week Honorable Mention after leading the team in scoring (23.0 ppg) during a 1-1 week for Elon. Sheffield scored a season-high 31 points while grabbing nine rebounds in an 82-73 Phoenix win over JMU.
- Freshman forward Zac Ervin earned the CAA Rookie of the Week award after leading the team in scoring (18 ppg) during a 1-1 week for Elon. Ervin scored a career-high 27 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, including a career-best 7-of-12 from beyond the arc in the Phoenix's 80-63 win over UNCW.
- Freshman guard Hunter McIntosh garnered CAA Rookie of the Week honors, the league announced on Dec. 16. McIntosh was selected by the conference after scoring a team-high 15 points, while adding three assists, two rebounds and two steals in Elon's dominant 91-60 win over North Carolina Wesleyan.
- Freshman forward Hunter Woods was named the CAA Rookie of the Week on Dec. 9. Woods earned the honor after averaging 16.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in games against Kennesaw State and High Point.
- This marks the first time that the CAA has had three different freshmen from the same team each win a Rookie of the Week Award in the same season since Charleston in 2015-16, and seventh overall since the conference began announcing the award in 2002-03.
- Woods and McIntosh became the first pair of Elon freshman to win the conference Rookie of the Week award in back-to-back weeks.
- Marcus Sheffield has now scored 20+ points in three consecutive games for the Phoenix, while scoring in double figures in 13 straight games.
- The Phoenix is currently 7-7 in games played at Schar Center this season
 
SCOUTING UNCW
- The Seahawks are off to an 7-17 start this season, after falling to James Madison, 83-66, in their most recent outing
- UNCW is in its first season under interim head coach Rob Burke, who served as the Director of Basketball Operations before joining Seahawks staff in May of 2017
- The Seahawks are led by Jaylen Sims, who leads the team in scoring at 13.5 ppg. Mike Okauru is the team's top rebounder at 5.4 rpg, while adding 9.3 ppg as well.
- UNCW currently ranks last in the CAA, posting a 2-9 record in 11 conference games so far.
  
LAST TIME OUT
- Elon University men's basketball outlasted Northeastern, 74-69, to win a close one on Saturday, Feb. 1.
 - Freshman guard Hunter McIntosh scored a career-high 24 points on 8-of-9 shooting for the Phoenix, adding five rebounds and three assists. Senior guard Marcus Sheffield chipped in 28 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while shooting 10-of-15 from the floor.

UP NEXT
Following the contest against UNCW, Elon will remain on the road to continue CAA play against Charleston. The Phoenix's matchup with the Cougars will take place on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 4 p.m.
