Dransfeld, Ferrari and Hutchinson Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. — The 2019-20 Second wave Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-American Scholars have been announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and Elon University men's golfers Josef Dransfeld, Max Ferrari, and Graham Hutchinson have earned the distinction.

A men's golfer has now earned a spot on the team in seven consecutive seasons. This year also marks the second time the Phoenix has had three Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars, the most in a single season in program history. Jake Leavitt, Philip Loeb, and Charlie May were selected All-American Scholars in 2018.

Dransfeld, Ferrari, and Hutchinson were among 194 Division I student-athletes selected, along with 87 in Division II, 81 in Division III, 27 from NAIA, and 11 from NJCAA. 2020 marks the first year in which Sophomores are eligible for the award.


A junior finance major from Huntington, W. Va., Dransfeld maintained a 3.34 GPA during the 2019-20 season. He competed in five tournaments with an average score of 75.07 and a +3.87 score vs. par through 15.0 rounds. His best finish was at the UNCG Martin Downs Collegiate, where he tied for 25th with a one-over par 217.

Ferrari, a redshirt-senior out of Framingham, Mass., maintained a 3.77 GPA while working on a Finance degree. Through six tournaments last year, he owned an average score of 72.78, a +1.44 score vs. par, and had 17-of-18 rounds counted towards the overall team score. He had strong start to the spring with a pair of Top-10 finishes, tying for eighth at UNCG's Martin Downs Collegiate with a six-under 210 before tying for fifth at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate with a plus-seven 220.

Hutchinson is entering his senior year at Elon and is majoring in economics. The Dallas, Texas native maintained a 3.35 GPA while playing in six events. With all 18 of his rounds counted towards the team score, he posted a 71.28 stroke average with a -0.06 score vs. par. Hutchinson tallied three Top-10 finished last season, capped off with his first career tournament victory at he Pinehurst Intercollegiate. With an even score of 213, the effort also helped the Phoenix secure the team title.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically in Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 78.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. For 2019-20 only, they must participate in 40 percent of the team's competitive rounds.
