Elon Begins Conference Play With Road Tilt Against Northeastern

ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball travels to Boston, Mass. for its first road contest of the season against Northeastern. Games will be held on both Saturday, Jan. 2 and Sunday, Jan. 3 with tipoff in both contests slated for 12 p.m.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Elon will not be allowing fans inside Schar Center to begin the season. Media members who would like to request a credential can do so by contacting Don Scott (dscott16@elon.edu) or Jamal Davis (jdavis84@elon.edu).
 
COVERAGE
- Listen to the Elon IMG Sports Network coverage on the TuneIn app. Taylor Durham will be on the call with the pregame show beginning at 11:30 p.m.
- Elon's game against Northeastern will be streamed live on FloSports.

THE MATCHUP
- This marks the 14th time that Elon and Northeastern will meet in program history, with Elon trailing in the series 4-9.
- In their most recent meeting in last year's CAA Tournament, Northeastern defeated Elon, 68-60, in the Semifinal Round.

ABOUT ELON
- Elon is led by sophomore guard Hunter McIntosh, who leads the team in scoring (17.8 ppg) and assists (2.8 apg).
- Junior forward Federico Poser leads the team in field goal percentage (.667) while posting 8.0 points and 3.3 rebounds per game as well.
- Sophomore forward Hunter Woods leads the team in rebounding (5.5 rpg) and is third on the team in scoring (10.5 ppg).
- Guards Kris Wooten and Ikenna Ndugba are combining to average 13.3 ppg and 3.2 apg through four games.
- In its most recent outing, Elon fell to UNC Greensboro, 71-64.
- Hunter Woods led the way for the Phoenix, posting a season-high 19 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
- Ikenna Ndugba added 15 points, six rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes of action.
- Hunter McIntosh chipped in nine points, two rebounds and two assists on the day.
- Elon rounded out non-conference play with a 3-1 overall record.
- Following its win against Campbell, the Phoenix moved to 3-0 on the season for the first time in Division I program history.
- Elon's win over N.C. Wesleyan made Schrage the first Elon coach since Bob Burton in 1987-88 to win his first two season openers.

SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN
- Bill Coen is in the midst of his 15th season at the helm of the Northeastern program, compiling a 242-218 overall record during his tenure.
- Northeastern is off to a 1-5 start to the season after falling to No. 8 West Virginia in its most recent outing.
- The Huskies are led by Tyson Walker, who is currently averages 15.8 ppg. Northeastern has also gotten major contributions from Jahmyl Telfort and Shaquille Walters who are combining to average 20.4 points and 9.2 rebounds this season.

The Phoenix will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 16-17, against James Madison. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. In Harrisonburg, Va.
