ELON, N.C. – Elon University women's tennis concludes its fall season this week, Oct. 29-30, when it hosts the Elon Invite at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Elon's campus.

Julie Ball continued her strong fall by winning four consecutive matches in the consolation bracket of the qualifying round.

Sibel Tanik defeated CCU's Megan Hopton 6-1, 6-1 in the first round of the A2 Main draw to pick up her lone singles win of the weekend.

Lizette Reding earned two singles wins during qualifying at the tournament, defeating GWU's Maria Jardim (6-1, 7-6(4)) and UNC's Lucie Petruzelova (6-3, 6-3) respectively.

Olivia Archer also added a singles win, outlasting GWU's Elise Semmartin 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the B1 draw.

Alison O'Dea took down CSU's Amila Jusufbegovic 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 in three sets to advance to the round of 16 of the B1 draw.

ABOUT THE PHOENIX
- Elon enters this season following a year in which it posted a 17-5 overall record and clinched a berth into the CAA Tournament semifinals.
- The Phoenix posted a 12-2 mark in matches played at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center and went 4-1 in road contests last season.

NEW FACES FOR 2021-22
- Elon will feature two newcomers this season in first-yearÂ
Sarah Allen and Tennessee transferÂ
Julie Ball.
- Allen joins the Phoenix from Christ Church Episcopal School, where she was a five-time team State Champion from 2016-2020Â and earned four top-5 finishes at the All-State Singles Championships in 2017 (5th), 2018 (4th), 2019 (4th) and 2020 (2nd).
- Ball comes to Elon from the University of Tennessee where she earned Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll honors in 2020.
