ELON, N.C. – The Elon University women's track and field team announced its 2021-22 indoor schedule on Monday, Nov. 29. The Phoenix is set to compete in nine meets during the regular season beginning on Dec. 4-5 at the College Kickoff at the JDL Fast Track Complex.
"Our schedule is set up for some very strong and competitive meets," said Elon Director of Track and Field and Cross Country
Mark Elliston. "Right now, the first steps are setting goals to achieve for each meet and doing our best to stay healthy and well. So, we will be taking it one meet at a time and look to be ready and present as the indoor (ECAC) Championships come around."
The Phoenix will kick off the indoor season on Saturday-Sunday, Dec. 4-5, at the College Kickoff at the JDL Fast Track Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C. The meet will be the first of four weekends of competition for Elon at the facility during the indoor campaign.
"The team is looking great as far as our working out and training sessions are concerned," added Elliston. "Everyone is excited to get the competitions underway, especially looking forward to an indoor season that we have missed the last two seasons."
After the holiday break, Elon returns to the JDL Fast Track Complex for the Mondo College Invite on Saturday, January 15. The Phoenix will then head to Lynchburg, Va., for the second annual Brant Tolsma Invitational at Liberty University on Thursday-Saturday, January 20-22.
Elon closes out the month of January with the squad splitting for a pair of meets at the VMI Winter Relays and the Bob Pollock Invite on the weekend of January 28-29.
Kicking off the month of February, Elon will compete at the prestigious Camel City Invite on Feb. 4-5 followed by a return to Liberty the following weekend, Feb. 11-12, for the eighth annual Darius Dixon Memorial Invite. The Phoenix wraps up the month with trips to the JDL DMR Invite on Feb. 18-19 and the Virginia Beach Invite to conclude the indoor regular season on Feb. 25-26.
Select members of the Phoenix will travel to Boston for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Championships on March 4-6 for the postseason portion of the Phoenix's indoor schedule. The 2021-22 indoor season will conclude at the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 11-12 in Birmingham, Ala.
