Elon Returns To Action Tomorrow Afternoon Against Charlotte

ELON, N.C. – Elon University women's tennis returns to action tomorrow, March 5, when it hosts Charlotte at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Elon's campus. That contest is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
 
THE SERIES
- Elon trails 8-7 in the all-time series against Charlotte.
- The Phoenix defeated the 49ers, 5-2, in their most recent meeting on March 18, 2016.   
 
ABOUT THE PHOENIX
- Elon is off to an 8-2 start to the season after defeating App State, 4-3, in its most recent outing.
- The victory over the Mountaineers extended the Phoenix's winning streak to five matches.
- Freshman Lizette Reding has started the season off hot, going 8-1 through the first nine singles matches, including currently being on a six-match win streak.
- Junior Victoria Saldh is also off to an 8-1 start in singles play this season, while posting a 5-0 record in the No. 1 slot.
- Alison O'Dea currently holds a perfect 4-0 record in No. 6 singles, and has now won three consecutive matches overall.
- Shauna Galvin picked up her fifth win in a row against App State, moving to 3-0 in the No. 5 singles slot this season.   
- Elon returns six athletes from last year's squad for the 2021 season in Sofia Edo, Olivia Archer, Victoria Saldh, Shauna Galvin, Kiana Rizzolo and Uma Nayar. Elon also added East Carolina transfer Sibel Tanik, as well as freshmen Alison O'Dea and Lizette Reding to the team.
- The Phoenix is led by seventeenth-year head coach Elizabeth Anderson.
 
SCOUTING CHARLOTTE
- Charlotte is led by head coach Anthony Davison, who is in his third season at the helm of the women's tennis program.
- The 49ers are off to a 9-4 start to the season after falling to #23 Furman, 4-1, in its most recent contest.
- Kaavya Sawhney is leading the way for Charlotte, posting a 9-3 record in singles play, as well as combining with Ruxi Schech to post a 9-2 record in doubles.

- Elon returns to action on Friday, March 12, to take on Towson. That matchup is slated for 2 p.m. at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C.
