ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's basketball returns to action this afternoon for the Quarterfinals of the 2021 Hercules Tires CAA Championship against top-seeded James Madison. Tipoff in the contest is slated for 2:30 p.m. at the Atlantic Union Bank Center on the campus of James Madison, in Harrisonburg, Va.

THE MATCHUP
- This marks the 17th time that Elon and James will meet in program history, with the Phoenix trailing in the series 7-9.
- In their most recent meeting on Feb. 9, 2021, JMU defeated Elon, 70-61.

ABOUT ELON
- Elon is led by sophomore guard Hunter McIntosh, who leads the team in scoring (15.3 ppg), adding 2.9 rpg.
- Sophomore forward Hunter Woods leads the team in rebounding (6.9 rpg) and is fifth on the team in scoring (7.6 ppg).
- Guards Ikenna Ndugba and Darius Burford are combining to average 17.9 ppg and 7.7 rpg.
- In its most recent outing, Elon defeated Towson, 69-48, to advance to the Quarterfinals of the 2021 CAA Tournament.
- Hunter McIntosh led the way for Elon, posting 13 points, three rebounds and three assists in just under 30 minutes of action.
Darius Burford added 11 points and three rebounds on 4-of-6 shooting from the field.
Ikenna Ndugba and Hunter Woods combined for 13 points,13 rebounds and four assists in the win.
Simon Wright and Michael Graham finished with seven points each, while Kris Wooten and Federico Poser finished with six points apiece.
Ben Daugherty scored his first points of the season late in the contest, finishing with two points and one rebound.
- The Phoenix is currently on a five-game winning streak and has now won at least one game in the CAA Tournament in each of the past two seasons.
-For the first time Division I program history, the Phoenix won three straight road games to end the regular season.
- Following its win against Campbell, the Phoenix earned its first 3-0 start to a season in Division I program history.
- Elon's win over N.C. Wesleyan made Schrage the first Elon coach since Bob Burton in 1987-88 to win his first two season openers.

SCOUTING JAMES MADISON
- James Madison enters the CAA Tournament as the No. 1 seed after winning the CAA regular season title, finishing with an overall record of 13-6 with a 8-2 record in conference play.
- Mark Byington is in the midst of his first season at the helm of the JMU program after spending seven years as the head coach at Georgia Southern.
- The Dukes are led by Vado Morse, who is currently averages 14.0 ppg and 2.0 rpg. JMU has also gotten major contributions from Justin Amadi and Julien Wooden, who are combining to average 16.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
- The Dukes will be without CAA Player of the Year Matt Lewis in the contest.

CAA TOURNAMENT INFO
- The 2020-21 CAA Tournament will be held at the Entertainment and Sports Arena in Washington, D.C. from March 6-9.
- All games in the first round and quarterfinals will be streamed live on FloHoops.com.
- The semifinal games of the CAA Men's Basketball Championship are set for 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Monday, with the two winners facing off for the conference title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9. The semifinal games and championship game will air nationally on CBS Sports Network.
- There will be no public sale of tickets for the Hercules Tires CAA Men's Basketball Championship. Attendance at the championship will be limited to families and guests of student-athletes and coaches.
