ELON, N.C. – Second-seeded Elon University women's tennis returns to action tomorrow, April 23, for a 3 p.m. matchup with seventh-seeded Drexel in the quarterfinals of the 2021 CAA Women's Tennis Tournament in Williamsburg, Va.
 
THE SERIES
- Elon and Drexel will meet for the fourth time in program history on Friday, with Elon leading in the all-time series 3-0.
- The Phoenix defeated the Dragons, 4-1, in their most recent meeting on April 18, 2019.   
 
ABOUT THE PHOENIX
- Elon rounded out regular season play with a 16-4 overall record with a 4-1 mark against CAA opponents.
- The Phoenix finished 12-2 in matches played at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center this season and 4-1 in road contests.
- Freshman Lizette Reding has continued her hot start to the season, racking up a 15-3 record through the first 18 singles matches of her career. Reding holds an 12-2 record in No. 3 singles so far this season.
- Junior Victoria Saldh finished the season with a 13-6 mark in singles play, posting a 9-5 record in the No. 1 slot.
- Sibel Tanik has compiled an 11-4 record in No. 2 singles this season after winning her last five matches against Methodist, William & Mary, UNCG, College of Charleston and Davidson respectively. 
- The combination of Victoria Saldh and Sofia Edo lead the team with 12 doubles wins on the year.
- Alison O'Dea and Lizette Reding have posted a 10-5 record in doubles play this season, including a 3-1 mark in the No. 1 slot.
- Victoria Saldh earned the first CAA weekly honor for the Phoenix this season after being named the Women's Singles Player of the Week on Feb. 24.
- Lizette Reding and Alison O'Dea picked up this season's first CAA doubles honor for Elon, winning Women's Doubles Team of the Week on April 7.
- Elon returns six athletes from last year's squad for the 2021 season in Sofia Edo, Olivia Archer, Victoria Saldh, Shauna Galvin, Kiana Rizzolo and Uma Nayar. Elon also added East Carolina transfer Sibel Tanik, as well as freshmen Alison O'Dea and Lizette Reding to the team.
- The Phoenix is led by seventeenth-year head coach Elizabeth Anderson.
 
SCOUTING DREXEL
- Drexel is led by head coach Anne Marie Devlin, who is in his second season at the helm of the women's tennis program.
- The Dragons are off to a 4-5 start to the season after losing to Saint Joseph's, 4-3, in its most recent contest.
