Hill Adds O'Connell to Coaching Staff

ELON, N.C. – Elon University men's golf and head coach Don Hill announced the addition of Kevin O'Connell to the program's coaching staff on Monday, Aug. 9.

"We are excited to welcome Kevin O'Connell to Elon as our Assistant Coach for men's golf," Hill said. "Kevin's playing resume - both as an amateur and a professional - is impeccable. His interpersonal skills, knowledge of the game, and devoted efforts to the craft of coaching golf separated him from our other highly-qualified candidates. Kevin will be a great addition to our staff."

O'Connell was most recently an assistant coach at Virginia Commonwealth. Prior to joining to the Rams, he competed in amateur tournaments while working as an associate advisor at Curi Capital in Raleigh, N.C. In 2018, he won the United States Golf Association's Mid-Amateur Championship and was selected to participate in the 2019 Masters and the 2019 U.S. Open Championship.

Prior to 2018, O'Connell worked with professional athletes as an associate relationship manager at Franklin Street Partners in Chapel Hill, N.C. and from 2011-2014 he competed professionally in tournaments across the United States.

O'Connell played for Coach Hill at North Carolina from 2007-11 and was selected to the NCAA Division I All-American team and named the Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Year following the 2007-08 season. A native of Cary, N.C., O'Connell graduated from UNC with a degree in American history in 2012.
