ELON, N.C.— The Elon University women's soccer team will take on Furman in the final match of its nonconference slate on Friday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m.

THE SERIES
-The Paladins lead the overall series, 12-4-1.
-Furman won the most recent matchup 3-0, which took place on Sept. 1, 2019 in Greenville, S.C.
ABOUT ELON
-The Phoenix enters the match with a 4-3 record.
-Elon went 2-0 last week, posting shutouts against Gardner-Webb (2-0) and American (1-0).
-In the maroon and gold's game against the Runnin' Bulldogs,
Lily Harkes got the Phoenix on the board with her first goal of the season in the 63rd minute off a pass from
Jessica Carrieri.
Lydia Totten then doubled Elon's score just five minutes later, scoring off a penalty kick for the final goal of the night.
-Against the Eagles,
Sarah Bevington scored the game-winning goal in the 17
th minute for her second of the season.
-The shutout at American marks the 10th in
McKenna Dalfonso's career and fourth this season to place her in the top 10 all-time in program history.
-For their performances against the Runnin' Bulldogs and Eagles, Dalfonso earned Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the week honors, while Totten was named the CAA Rookie of the Week.
-The maroon and gold is led by fourth-year head coach
Neil Payne.
SCOUTING FURMAN
-The Paladins currently hold a 4-1-1 record on the season.
-Furman tied Georgia State in its last match on Sept. 10 (2-2). Nieva Gaither and Kyndal Anderson registered the goals for the Paladins.
-The Paladins were predicted to win the Southern Conference (SoCon) in the 2021 SoCon preseason poll. Jasmine Greene, Isabella Gutierrez, Gaither and Faith Hauberg were also named to the preseason all-conference team.
-The head coach of Furman is Andrew Burr.
