ELON, N.C. – The Elon University volleyball team hits the road for a weekend series with Colonial Athletic Association newcomer Hampton. The matches on Saturday and Sunday are both scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Phoenix split a weekend series with College of Charleston at Schar Center last weekend. Elon lost in four sets on Saturday but came from behind in the fifth set on Sunday to earn the program's first ever home victory against Charleston in its 14th attempt.
- Freshman Brooke Doherty tallied a career-high 22 kills in Sunday's victory after posting 10 on Saturday. The Holly Springs, N.C., native earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors for her performance.
- Leah Daniel also reached 20 kills in Sunday's victory, marking the first time in 124 matches that multiple Elon players have surpassed 20 kills in the same contest. Sydney Busa (24) and Kam Terry (23) achieved the feat against William & Mary on Oct. 25, 2017.
- With 30 assists, 13 digs and 10 kills in Sunday's win, Haylie Clark earned her fourth career triple-double and first since March 24, 2021.
- Ericka Link posted her second career double-double in Sunday's match with career-highs in both assists (30) and digs (15).
- In her third start of the season on Sunday, senior Claire Richey tied her career-high with a team-high seven blocks.
- Jordan Gower tallied 22 digs to lead the maroon and gold on Sunday. Along with Gower and Clark, Sydney Daniels (13) and Caroline Doyle (10) also had double-digit digs.
- The maroon and gold delivered season-highs in team kills, digs and assists in Sunday's win.
PHOENIX FACTS
- Leah Daniel ranks No. 4 in the CAA in both kills (275) and kills per set (3.40). Elon's all-time leader in kills has double-digit kills in 15 matches this season. She also leads the Phoenix with 24 aces.
- Haylie Clark is fourth in the conference with 656 assists and fifth in assists per set with 8.0. The senior has tallied double-digit assists in every match this season and has reached 30 assists in 12 of Elon's 20 matches. The Saint Cloud, Fla., native also has at least five kills in four consecutive matches, her longest such streak since she posted five plus kills in eight straight contests during the 2021 spring season.
- Jordan Gower's 4.83 digs per set rank No. 31 in the NCAA and No. 1 in the CAA. The senior has double-digit digs in every appearance this season and has posted at least 20 digs six times.
- Senior Jenn Krzeminski ranks No. 6 in the league in blocks per set (1.00). She is also in the top 10 in the CAA with a hitting percentage of .269.
- With 192 kills and 2.46 kills per set, Sydney Love is second on the team in both categories. The sophomore is also No. 10 in the CAA in blocks per set (0.95).
- Reigning CAA Rookie of the Week Brooke Doherty is third on the team with 2.06 kills per set. The freshman has recorded double-digit kills in each of the last two matches, the first such streak of her career.
- Alex VanWestrienen has racked up at least 10 digs in four consecutive appearances, her longest career streak of double-digit digs. After reaching double-digits in three of Elon's first 12 matches, she has hit the mark in five of her last seven appearances.
- Ericka Link is averaging 4.10 assists per set and has delivered double-digit assists in three of Elon's last four contests. The junior tied Clark to lead the team in assists in Sunday's win against College of Charleston, the first time this season someone has matched Clark's assist total in a match.
- As a team, Elon leads the CAA in digs per set (15.29) and ranks No. 3 in blocks per set (2.24).
THE MATCHUP
- Elon is 9-1 in its previous matchups against Hampton. The teams faced each other twice at neutral sites in 2012, with Hampton earning its first win in the series on Aug. 24 and Elon avenging the loss with a straight sets victory on Sept. 15.
- The Phoenix and Pirates have only met twice at Hampton, with Elon winning both the matches in straight sets.
- Elon has won 29 of the 34 sets between the teams in their 10 matches. The Phoenix has won seven of the 10 meetings in straight sets.
- This will be the first time the teams have faced each other as conference opponents.
SCOUTING HAMPTON
- The Pirates enter the weekend with a 3-12 overall record after dropping a pair of matches to William & Mary last weekend. The team is still looking for its first victory against a CAA opponent as a member of the conference, as they currently hold an 0-12 mark in league matches.
- Hampton started the season 3-0 with victories against Coppin State, Maryland Eastern Shore and Manhattan but has lost its last 12 contests, all of which were CAA clashes.
- The Pirates rank No. 3 in the CAA in opponent digs pet set (13.25) and No. 4 in opponent blocks per set (2.11).
- With 5.45 assists per set, Julieta Campana ranks 10th in the conference and leads the Pirates in the category. The senior has double-digit assists in every match this season.
- Gabby Calloway is pacing Hampton this season with 125 kills (2.36 per set). She posted a season-best hitting percentage (.348) in the team's last match against William & Mary on Oct. 23.
- The Pirates' defense is led by Leanna Caldwell, who has a team-high 3.04 digs per set, and Genevieve Reynolds, who leads the team with 0.68 blocks per set.
- Hampton is led by fourth year head coach Sonja Maksimovic, who also played for the Pirates from 2011-2014.
UP NEXT
Elon hits the road again for a pair of matches against UNCW on Nov. 5-6. The match on Nov. 5 is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. while the Nov. 6 match will begin at 2 p.m.
