Will Orbin Named Tight Ends Coach

Elon, N.C. – Elon University Head Football Coach Tony Trisciani has announced the hiring of Will Orbin as the team's new tight ends coach. Orbin comes to Elon after spending three years at NCAA Division II Barton College. He also previously coached at Elon from 2000-01.

Orbin began at Barton in 2019 to prepare the program to begin play in the spring of 2021. As the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, he was responsible for the development of the offensive line, the run game coordination, and all pass protection.
 
In the first fall season for Barton, the team went 6-5, including a victory over the No. 8 team in the country, Wingate. Barton averaged 229.5 yards per game on the ground, No. 10 nationally and has the No. 2 rusher in the NCAA, running back Jordan Terrell (1,843 yards).
 
Prior to his time at Barton, Orbin was the offensive line coach at Christopher Newport University, developing the offensive line and coordinating the run game. From 2015-17, Orbin was the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Louisburg College, an NJCAA member. The team went undefeated in 2016 with the No. 3 scoring offense in the country and the No. 3 rushing offense, as well as the No. 6 total offense. In 2015, Louisburg led the country in rushing offense and was No. 14 in total offense while averaging 43.6 points per game.
 
Orbin spent time as the offensive line coach at Indiana State from 2007-08 and was Elon's defensive ends coach from 2000-01. He was responsible for the development of the defensive ends in the Phoenix's 4-3 defensive scheme.
 
Along with his collegiate coaching experience, Orbin spent time at four different high schools – East Rowan (Salisbury, N.C), Griffin (Griffin, Ga.), Leesville (Raleigh, N.C.), and Holly Springs (Holly Springs, N.C.).
 
Orbin earned his bachelor's degree in history from North Carolina State in 2000 and post-baccalaureate certification in special education from Georgia in 2008. He is a veteran of the United States Marines Corps, serving from 1988-92.
 
Orbin and his wife, Brandi, have twins – Benjamin and Regan.
