HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Elon University women's track and field team concluded its final day of competition at the Bob Davidson Memorial/Bill Webb Combined Events meet on Saturday, March 19, on the campus of High Point University.
Kaitlin McGoogan earned her second victory of the meet as the Jamestown, N.C., native won the discus with her throw of 48.60m – now the third-best throw in school history.
Lauryn Carlton was fifth overall with a toss of 45.14m. Carlton led the Phoenix in the shot put with a throw of 12.61m in eighth.
Meghan Wilcox narrowly missed the school-record in the 100-meter dash by .02 seconds as the freshman ran a time of 11.87 to finish seventh overall. In the 400-meters,
Piper Jons was sixth overall with a time of 56.07 while
Aliya Barrows also finished in the top-10 of the race with her time of 56.95.
Stephanie Lair was the runner-up in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:45.85.
Arianna Sakoutis was sixth in the 800-meters to lead the Phoenix with her time of 2:25.55 followed by
Sabrina Mannes in seventh at her time of 2:25.85.
Alyssa Sandy clocked the third-fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles at 13.83.
Riley Drometer was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles as the highest finisher for Elon at her time of 1:04.17.
Elon's 4x400-meter relay team of Barrows,
Tessa DiPierdomenico, Drometer and Jons was second overall with a time of 3:49.53. The Phoenix's 4x100-meter quartet of Wilcox,
Alex Tudor, Jons and
Jordan Haywood was fourth overall with a time of 47.02.
On Deck
Elon heads to the Raleigh Relays next week beginning on Thursday, March 24 and continuing through next Saturday, March 26.
