Personal Records Highlight Phoenix’s Performance at Meet of Champions

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Elon University women's track and field team saw 13 of its athletes set new personal-bests as the Phoenix competed at the Meet of Champions on Saturday, April 16, at Vert Stadium on the campus of High Point University.
 
THE RUNDOWN
Meghan Wilcox clocked the second-fastest time in school history in the 100-meters as the Sugar Land, Texas, native ran a personal-best time 11.88 and was ninth overall.
 
Piper Jons was Elon's leader in the 200-meters with her personal-best time of 24.25 in seventh – the second-best time in school history. Wilcox also moved into the program's top-10 performance list with her time of 24.51.
 
In the 800-meters, Stephanie Lair was third overall as she ran a new personal-best time of 2:09.49. Jette Beermann was fifth in the 1,500-meters for Elon as the freshman ran a time of 4:33.12.
 
Riley Drometer, Tessa DiPierdomenico and Anna Kozlova set new personal-bests in the 400-meter hurdles. Drometer was sixth with her time of 1:02.56 while DiPierdomenico was seventh at 1:03.51. Kozlova also added a program top-10 time in the race at 1:03.73 in ninth.
 
Alyssa Sandy was third in the 100-meter hurdles at her time of 13.75. Jons also led the Phoenix in the 400-meters with her time of 56.42 in 10th followed by Aliya Barrows and her time of 56.67 in 11th.
 
Kaitlin McGoogan was second overall in the hammer throw with a toss of 56.06m. She also finished fourth overall in the discus at her best throw of 46.26m. Lauryn Carlton threw a new personal-record in the discus with a heave of 45.43m and was fifth. Carlton was the Phoenix's leader in the shot put with a throw of 12.50m.
 
In the javelin, Grace Dieleman was sixth overall with her personal-best throw of 40.48m, third-best mark in school history. Madison George took eighth in the pole vault with a cleared height of 3.76m.

Select members of the Phoenix will travel to the Virginia Challenge next weekend, April 22-23.
