ELON, N.C. – No. 4 Elon University women's opens the 2022 CAA Championship on Friday, April 29, when it matches up with fifth-seeded UNCW at 10 a.m. at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Elon's campus.

THE MATCHUP
- Friday afternoon marks the 22^nd meeting between Elon and UNCW.
- The Phoenix currently leads the Seahawks in the all-time series, 13-8.
- In the most recent meeting between the two programs earlier this season, Elon defeated UNCW, 5-2, on March 26, 2022.
- Elon has won five straight matches against UNCW dating back to March 10, 2018.

SCOUTING NO. 4 ELON
- The Phoenix enters the contest with a 15-8 record after falling to William & Mary, 5-2, in its most recent outing.
- Olivia Archer is leading the way for Elon, as the junior has racked up a team-high 16 wins this season and has won nine of her last 11 matches. The senior also holds a perfect 6-0 mark in the No. 4 position this season.
- Julie Ball ranks second on the team in singles play, as she holds a 12-5 overall record and a 10-5 mark in the No. 4 slot this season. Ball has won six of her last seven matches overall.
- Sibel Tanik is currently tied for second on the team in singles wins, racking up 12 on the year. Tanik holds a 12-6 mark in No. 1 singles and has won seven of her last eight matches.
- Lizette Reding ranks third for the Phoenix in singles play, posting a 11-8 overall record, including a 8-4 mark in the No. 2 spot. Reding also currently sits at 2-0 in No. 1 singles and has won five of her last six matches.
- Alison O'Dea sits in a tie for fourth in singles play, compiling eight wins so far this year. O'Dea has at least one win in No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles and has won two of her last three outings.
- Shauna Galvin moved into a tie for fourth in singles wins, as she holds an 8-2 mark overall. Galvin has won seven of her eight matches in straight sets, is 3-1 in the No. 5 position and 5-1 in the No. 6 spot this season.
- Victoria Saldh currently holds a 7-11 overall mark in singles play with a 4-5 record in the No. 2 slot and has won three of her last five matches.
- Sarah Allen rounds out the wins in singles play, as she holds a 2-1 mark overall and in the No. 6 slot this season.
- The combination of Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding is leading the way for Elon in doubles play, as the duo has won 12 matches this season. The combo has won five consecutive matches and seven of its last eight outings overall.
- The tandem of Olivia Archer and Alison O'Dea ranks second on the team in doubles wins, as the pair holds a 11-8 mark overall this year.
- Julie Ball and Victoria Saldh currently rank third on the team in doubles wins with nine. The tandem sits at 1-0 in the No. 1 doubles position and has won three of its last five contests.
- Olivia Archer and Alison O'Dea were named the CAA Doubles Team of the Week on March 2, after winning all three of their matches last week against North Carolina A&T, Methodist and Pfeiffer respectively.
- On Wednesday, Feb. 2, the CAA announced that junior Sibel Tanik was named its Player of the Week. It was the first honor of the season for the Phoenix and was the first Player of the Week award of Tanik's career.
- Four All-CAA selections return for the Phoenix in 2021-22 in Sibel Tanik (1^st Team), Lizette Reding (Rookie of the Year; 2^nd Team Singles; 3^rd Team Doubles), Victoria Saldh (3rd Team Singles), and Alison O'Dea (3^rd Team Doubles).
- Other returners for the Phoenix include Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sport Excellence Award recipient, Olivia Archer, and junior Shauna Galvin.
- The Phoenix is led by Elizabeth Anderson, who will begin her 18^th season at the helm of the program in 2021-22.
 
SCOUTING NO. 5 UNCW
- The Seahawks enter Friday's contest with a 12-6 overall record after falling to Charleston, 4-3, in its most recent outing.
- UNCW is led by Hans Olsen who is in his seventh season at the helm of the program. Olsen has led three different programs to a combined eight NCAA Tournament appearances as a head coach.
- Zoe Huffman leads the Seahawks in singles play with an 9-7 record, including a 3-0 mark in the No. 1 spot.
- The pairing of Sasha Belaya and Lauren Gish currently holds the top mark for UNCW in doubles play at 10-3 overall and in No. 1 doubles.

LAST TIME OUT
- Elon fell to William & Mary, 5-2, in its regular-season finale on Saturday, April 23, in Williamsburg, Va.
- Olivia Archer continued her strong play of late, outlasting Elisa Van Meeteren 4-6, 6-3, 10-2 in a three-set tiebreaker. Archer picked up her team-leading 16^th singles victory of the season in the match and now sits at 6-0 in the No. 4 position.
- Lizette Reding got Elon on the board in the match, taking down Hedda Gurholt 6-2, 6-4 in No. 2 singles. The win moved Reding to 11-8 overall this season with a 8-4 mark in the No. 2 spot.
- Sibel Tanik fought hard against #116 nationally ranked Mila Saric, winning the first set 6-2 before falling 7-5 in the second set. In the decisive tiebreaker, Saric outlasted Tanik in a narrow 12-10 decision in No. 1 singles.

THE FACES OF 2021-22
- The Phoenix welcomes back six returners from last year's squad in seniors Olivia Archer and Victoria Saldh, juniors Shauna Galvin and Sibel Tanik, and sophomores Lizette Reding and Alison O'Dea.
- Elon will feature two newcomers this season in first-year Sarah Allen and Tennessee transfer Julie Ball.
- Allen joins the Phoenix from Christ Church Episcopal School, where she was a five-time team State Champion from 2016-2020 and earned four top-5 finishes at the All-State Singles Championships in 2017 (5th), 2018 (4th), 2019 (4th) and 2020 (2nd).
- Ball comes to Elon from the University of Tennessee where she earned Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll honors in 2020.
