THE RUNDOWN
Elon turned a 6-4-3 double play in the bottom of the first, but a baserunner scored from third on the play to give the Huskies (15-14-1, 2-5) the early lead. Granatell led off the top of the third with a single up the middle but was erased at second as
Samuel Frontino reached on a fielder's choice.
Alex Iadisernia then drew a walk before Stephenson put the maroon and gold in front 3-1 with one swing of the bat. However, the hosts matched the effort with three runs in the home half of the frame.
Northeastern looked to add some insurance with runners on second and third in the seventh, but
Cole Reynolds fielded a ground ball and flipped to Evans at first for the third out. The Huskies continued the pressure with one out and runners in scoring position in the eighth. Seguin was able to get the second out, but a three-run blast to right pushed NU's lead to 7-3. Elon then went down in order in the top of the ninth.
