DURHAM, N.C. – The Elon University women's track and field team saw seven personal records set today including five new performances on the program's top-10 list as the Phoenix competed at the Duke Invitational on Friday, April 8, at the Morris Williams Track.
THE RUNDOWN
Hannah Miller ran the second-fastest time in school history in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the Harrisonburg, Va., native clocked a personal-record time of 10:26.00 in the race and was fifth overall.
In the 1,500-meters Invite race,
Leandra Lorenz and
Anna Twomey both set new personal-records as the duo ran times of 4:22.60 and 4:22.98, respectively. Lorenz was sixth overall in the race while Twomey was seventh.
Maria Ahm made her outdoor debut in the 5,000-meters and ran a new personal-best of 16:30.34 in the race and was sixth.
Lizzie Vinci also ran a personal-best with her time of 17:18.11 in 18
th.
Kaitlin McGoogan was fifth in the hammer throw and was the third collegiate athlete overall with her throw of 55.02m.
Lauryn Carlton was 10
th at her throw of 51.55m.
Carlton was Elon's leader in the shot put with a season-best toss of 12.78m.
Alexa Mark led the Phoenix in the long jump with a leap of 5.50m, a season and personal-best for the rookie.
Hollie Thurgood finished her run in the heptathlon with 4,136 points. She moves onto the program's top-10 performance list.
ON DECK
The final day of the Duke Invitational for the Phoenix begins on Saturday, April 9, at 9:30 a.m. with the women's discus throw. Elon's first track event of the day, the women's 4x100-meter relay, is scheduled for a 12:10 p.m. start.
