ELON, N.C. – Elon University baseball continues its home stand with a three-game CAA series versus Towson this Friday-Sunday, May 13-15 at Latham Park.

THE SERIES
- Elon has a 17-4 lead in the all-time series.
- The teams last met for three games at Towson on April 5-7, 2019.
- Ty Adcock and Jack Roberts both hit three-run home runs as Elon cruised to a 9-1 victory in the series opener. On the bump, Kyle Brnovich held Towson to one run through seven innings to improve to 3-3. struck out 10 and gave up the one unearned run on two hits and three walks.
- After Towson took the second game 7-3, the maroon and gold won the rubber match 16-8 for its third-straight CAA series win. Tyler Stanley hit a grand slam with two runs scored, five RBIs, and a swiped bag in a 3-for-6 day at the plate. Also hitting home runs were Adcock, Nick CicciMatt Oldham, and Anthony GalasonJared Wetherbee (3-3) earned the win after striking out a career-high 12 batters through 6.0 innings. The left-hander did not give up an earned run as Towson plated two unearned on four hits and as many walks.
- The teams did not meet last season as the CAA was split into North and South Divisions due to COVID-19.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- Towson received 24 total points and was picked to finish seventh in the CAA's Preseason Coaches' Poll.
- Nick Janowicz was named a CAA Preseason Honorable Mention while Perfect Game selected Danny Becerra to its Presason All-CAA Team.
- The Tigers (11-36, 1-16) lost a doubleheader to James Madison last Sunday. JMU won the first game 4-2 in seven innings before edging Towson 5-4 in Game Two.
- Towson is coming off an 8-4 win over Richmond on Tuesday. Burke Camper (2-for-3) hit a grand slam and Chandler Castleberry (2-for-3) contributed two long balls to power the offense. Brett Seils (1-1) earned the win, the first of his career, with two strikeouts in three scoreless innings of work.
- Jack McLaughlin leads Towson's starters with a .315 average. Elijah Dickerson follows with a .263 clip and Nolan Young is hitting .261.
- James Moses (.258) has scored a team-high 31 runs, Dickerson has driven in 37 runs with nine homers, and Castleberry (.213) has drawn 33 walks. Young is 11-for-17 on stole-base attempts and Castleberry is 8-for-9.
- The Tigers are batting .237 as a team with a .377 slugging percentage and a .339 on-base percentage.
- Ethan Pecko is expected to get the start on Friday and Nick Janowicz will get the nod on Saturday. Sunday's starter has yet to be named.
- Towson's pitching has given up 396 runs (335 earned) on 517 hits and 214 walks this season. The Tigers have recorded 310 strikeouts over 401.2 innings, own a combined 7.51 ERA and are allowing opponents to hit .314 against them.
- Through games on May 10, Towson ranks 23rd nationally in hit batters (74).
- Jordan Peyton is ranked as the ninth toughest to strike out batter (16.6), Dickerson is 11th in triples (5) and 27th in triples per game (0.11), Teddy Blumenauer is 21st in hit batters (14) and Nick Ramanjulu is 31st in hit batters (13). 

ABOUT THE PHOENIX
- Elon wrapped up its non-conference slate with an 8-3 home win over North Carolina A&T on Tuesday.
- The Phoenix (23-22, 7-10) hit three home runs in the first inning: Alex Iadisernia and Charlie Granatell both hit two-run blasts and Cole Reynolds added a solo shot. Starter Ian Evans (1-3) got the win on what marked a staff day for the Phoenix. The right hander from Niagara Falls, N.Y. allowed one run on three hits with no walks and a pair of strikeouts through 1.2 innings.
- Tuesday also marked the team's Vs. Cancer game. Following the victory, the team shaved its heads as part of a fundraising effort in support of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
- Iadisernia is batting .309, Granatell is next with a .283 average and Connor Coolahan follows with a .238 average to lead Elon's starters.
- Iadisernia and Coolahan have scored 27 runs each, while Iadisernia has the team highs in doubles (13) and RBIs (39). Luke Stephenson is the team leader in homers with nine, Coolahan has drawn 29 walks, Justin Cassella has stolen 16 bases on 19 attempts and Iadisernia is 14-for-16 on stolen-base attempts.
- The Phoenix enters the weekend hitting .203 as a team with a .269 slugging percentage and a .303 on-base percentage
- Elon's rotation for the series will see Joe Savino on Friday, Brian Edgington on Saturday and Shea Sprague on Sunday.
- Elon has a team ERA of 3.94 and has recorded 370 strikeouts against 110 walks over 399.2 innings. Opponents are also batting .274 against the Phoenix.
- The maroon and gold is third in the country in walks allowed per nine innings (2.48), eighth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.36), 22nd in ERA and 26th in sacrifice bunts (29).
- Sprague ranks sixth in ERA (1.29) and 19th in WHIP (0.92). Iadisernia is 16th in sac flies (6), Edgington wanks 17th in games started (12) and Carlos Marte is 17th in sac bunts per game (0.21). 

UP NEXT
Elon rounds out the regular season next Thursday-Saturday, May 19-21 as the Phoenix hosts William & Mary for a conference series.
