ELON, N.C. – Elon University baseball plays its final three games of the regular season this week as the Phoenix (25-23, 9-11 CAA) hosts William & Mary for a conference series on Thursday-Saturday, May 19-21 at Latham Park.

Friday's game, originally scheduled for a 6 p.m. start, was moved back to 7 p.m. in an effort to help with Commencement traffic at Schar Center. Parking may be limited throughout most of the day on campus.

THE SERIES
- Elon is ahead 20-14 in the all-time series.
- The Phoenix leads the Tribe (23-21, 11-10) 8-2 when playing at Latham Park.
- Elon and William & Mary played two CAA series last year due to the conference being split into North and South Divisions.
- Elon won both games of a home doubleheader 13-7 and 7-6 on April 10 at Latham Park. The Phoenix then capped off the series sweep with an 8-0 shutout on April 11.

Brian Edgington was named Pitcher of the Week and
Justin Cassella earned Rookie of the Week honors.
- W&M then won all three games in Williamsburg, Va. on April 17-18. The Tribe won both games of a doubleheader 6-4 and 12-9 before defeating the maroon and gold 9-7 in the series finale.
- The two teams met a seventh time in the opening round of the CAA Championship on May 26 at UNCW's Brooks Field. The Phoenix entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed and quickly fell behind 3-0 to the sixth-seeded Tribe. However, the maroon and gold scored seven unanswered runs and held on for the 7-3 final.
Trevor Kirk struck out five while holding the Tribe scoreless through 4.1 innings. He allowed one hit and didn't walk anyone to improve to 4-1 with the victory. Edgington gave up three runs on five hits and two walks while recording three strikeouts in a 2.2-inning start. Three Elon batters collected multiple hits, led by Iadisernia's 3-for-4 day at the plate. The Co-Rookie of the Year scored once, drove in one run and also earned one base on balls.
Jarrett Pico was a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one RBI and one walk.
Garrett Stonehouse turned in a 2-for-4 effort with one run.
SCOUTING THE TRIBE
- W&M was picked to finish sixth with 27 points in the CAA Preseason Coaches' Poll. Ben Williamson and Jack Cone represented the Tribe on the Preseason All-CAA Team.
- W&M clinched its spot in the upcoming CAA Championship with a CAA series sweep of Delaware last weekend in Williamsburg.
- The Tribe blanked the Blue Hens 13-0 in the opener, then edged UD 5-2 on Saturday to earn the series win. W&M capped off the weekend with a 10-5 final on Sunday.
- Senior third baseman Cole Ragone was named the CAA Co-Player of the Week on Monday after batting .357 (5-for-14) with two doubles, two home runs, five runs and 10 RBI's in William & Mary's 4-0 week. The senior went 3-for-3, homered and drove in four in a 13-0 win over Delaware last Friday, then followed with a 3-run homer in Sunday's 10-5 victory over the Hens. Ragone also knocked in two runs in a 5-0 road win at Old Dominion last Wednesday.
- Ragone is hitting .310 to lead W&M at the plate. Matt Thomas is right on his heels with a .309 average and Williamson follows with a .307 clip.
- Ragone also leads the team in home runs (9), doubles (12) and RBIs (43). Williamson has scored a team-high 40 runs and Thomas has walked 26 times. Joe Delossantos (.294) has stolen 11 bases on 15 attempts, Thomas is 10-for-14 and Williamson is 8-for-12.
- W&M is batting .271 as a team with a .421 slugging percentage and a .383 on-base percentage.
- The Tribe's starting rotation will see left hander Zach Tsakounis on Thursday, right hander Casey Green on Friday and righty Cone on Saturday.
- W&M has given up 243 runs (189 earned) on 370 hits and 192 walks this season. Tribe pitchers own a team ERA of 4.43, have recorded 317 strikeouts and are allowing opponents to hit .254 against them.
- W&M ranks 42nd nationally in hit by pitch (78), 49th in ERA and 54th in hits allowed per nine innings (8.64).
- David Hogarth (.279) is third toughest to strike out batter in the country (22.0). Carter Lovasz ranks fourth in WHIP (0.83) and eighth in hits allowed per nine innings (5.36), Cone is sixth in games started (14) and Williamson is 15th in toughest to strike out (14.8).
ABOUT THE PHOENIX
- Elon has also qualified for the CAA Championship after winning two of three games against Towson last weekend.
- In the CAA series opener last Friday, Elon earned a walk-off 5-4 victory as Iadisernia was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. It marked the 800th win for head coach Mike Kennedy, who is in his 26th season leading the Phoenix.
- After the Tigers pulled even in the series with a 12-6 decision on Saturday, the Phoenix won the rubber match 11-6 as Charlie Granatell homered twice and drove in seven runs.
- Granatell was tabbed CAA Rookie of the Week on Monday. The Franklin Lakes, N.J. native hit .400 (6-for-15) with a 1.200 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base percentage to help the Phoenix to a 3-1 record last week. His weekly totals included three home runs with seven runs scored, one double, one triple, 10 RBIs, two walks and one stolen base.
- Griffin Arnone owns a .304 batting average, Iadisernia is right behind him at .303 and Granatell is next at .287.
- Connor Coolahan (.241) has scored 30 runs and walked 33 times, Luke Stephenson (.243) leads the team with 10 long balls and Iadisernia enters the series with 42 RBIs. Justin Cassella has stolen successfully on 16-of-19 attempts, Iadisernia is 14-for-16 and Granatell is 10-for-13.
- The Phoenix owns a combined .229 batting average with a .359 slugging percentage and a .342 on-base percentage.
- Edgington will get the start on Thursday and Shea Sprague will take the mound on Friday. Saturday's starting pitcher hasn't been named.
- Elon's arms have a combined ERA of 4.09 and opponents are batting .274. The Phoenix has recorded 393 strikeouts against 119 walks this season.
- The maroon and gold is third nationally in walks allowed per nine innings (2.51), seventh in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.30), 28th in sacrifice bunts (31) and 31st in ERA.
- Sprague ranks sixth in the country in ERA (1.50) and 22nd in WHIP (0.94). Edgington is 17th in games started (13), Iadisernia is 23rd in sac flies (6) and Carlos Marte ranks 28th in sac bunts (8).
SENIOR DAY
- Saturday's game marks Senior Day for the Phoenix.
- Prior to first pitch, the team will recognize Samuel Frontino, Will Gambino, Kyle Greenler, Joe Sprake and Brian Edgington.
