RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced its 2022 men's golf honors on Thursday, May 19 and Elon University men's golfer Garrett Risner was named to the All-Conference Second Team, as selected by the league's nine head coaches.

A sophomore from Holly Springs, N.C., Risner competed in 10 tournaments and played 29 rounds during the 2021-22 season. He led the Phoenix with an average score of 72.00 and a +0.21 score versus par. At the Sixth Annual Phoenix Invitational on Oct. 11-12 at Alamance Country Club, he finished tied for seventh place with a seven-under par 206 after firing a three-under 68 in the final round. The effort helped the Phoenix defend its home course and win the team title. On Oct. 23-24 at UNCG's Grandover Collegiate, he opened with a four-under 68 and placed sixth with a three-round total of five-under 211.

In the spring, Risner tied for 10th place at the Donald Ross Collegiate Classic, hosted by George Mason at Mid Pines Golf Club on March 7-8. He carded a one-under 71 in the opening round and followed with a pair of 73s for a 54-hole total of 217 (+1) as the maroon and gold was second in the team standings. He capped off his year with a sixth-place finish at the 2022 CAA Championship on April 24-26 at Dataw Island Club. The top finisher for the Phoenix, he recorded a pair of two-under 70s in the first and third rounds and added a one-over 73 in round two to finish with a three-under par 213.
