RICHMOND, Va. – The CAA announced its weekly honors on Monday, May 9 and Elon University baseball's Shea Sprague has been named the league's Co-Rookie of the Week. This is the third weekly honor of the season for Sprague after he was named CAA Co-Pitcher of the Week on April 4 and CAA Co-Rookie of the Week on April 11.

The true freshman from Hanover, Mass. earned the win in Game Two of Sunday's doubleheader at Delaware to improve to 4-2 on the season. He threw five scoreless innings, scattered four hits, issued one intentional walk and struck out three. The outing helped the Phoenix (22-22, 7-10 CAA) shut out the Blue Hens 4-0 and leapfrog Delaware in the conference standings. Sprague entered the weekend ranked eighth in the country with a 1.43 ERA and Sunday's outing lowered it to 1.29, which currently ranks sixth nationally. He is also third in the CAA and 19th nationally in WHIP (0.92), 3rd in the conference in walks allowed per nine innings (1.65), and fifth in the league in hits allowed per nine innings (6.61).

Elon is back at Latham Park this Tuesday, May 10 as the Phoenix hosts North Carolina A&T for a 6 p.m. game.
