BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Highlighted by Leandra Lorenz's school record in the 6K, the Elon University cross country programs competed at the Paul Short Run on Friday morning, Sept. 30. The Phoenix raced at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course on the campus of Lehigh University.
 
Lorenz posted a time of 20:02.9 in the Women's College Gold portion of the meet, breaking Scolasticah Kemei's previous school-record time of 20:25.67 in 2019. Lorenz's performance helped the maroon and gold women to a seventh-place standing with 283 points in the 46-team field. The Phoenix finished ahead of notable teams like Indiana, Duke and Wake Forest at the meet.
 
In the Men's College Brown's 8K, the Phoenix men was 16^th overall out of 45 teams in that race with 498 points. Zane Jackson led the Phoenix in the race with his time of 24:29.7 – the third-fastest performance in school history.
 
Women's Recap
• Lorenz led the Phoenix for the second time out of three meets this season as the Kleinmachnow, Germany, native was 21^st overall out of 416 competitors. She also bested her previous personal-best time of 21:04.8 that she set at the Coaching Tree Invitational in her previous race.
• Senior Maggie Springer recorded the second-fastest time in school history at the meet as the Chapel Hill, N.C., native posted a personal-best time of 20:21.3. She would finish 44^th overall.
• Madison Synowiec also broke into the program's top-10 performance list with her personal-best time of 20:31.4. The junior was 62^nd overall.
• Anna Twomey and Katie Blount rounded out the top-five scorers for the Phoenix with both runners earning spots on the program's top-10 performance list. Twomey was 71^st with a time of 20:37.0 while Blount was 88^th at her time of 20:44.1.
 
Men's Recap
• Jackson was 21^st overall out of the field of 403 runners. The Charleston, S.C., native has led the Phoenix in two of the three races so far this season.
• Andrew Miller was next to cross the finish line for Elon. The Fleming Island, Fla., native had a time of 25:11.0, good for 79^th overall.
• Freshman Colby Robbins was the third Phoenix runner behind Jackson and Miller. The Land O' Lakes, Fla., native had a time of 25:22.3 and was 103^rd overall.
• Cameron Dunn posted a time of 25:31.0 while Nate Mars had a time of 25:56.0 to conclude the top-five times for the Phoenix.
 
On Deck
The Phoenix closes out its regular season at the Pirate Invitational hosted by East Carolina on Friday, Oct. 14.
