Winston-Salem, N.C. & Chapel Hill, N.C. – Junior
Piper Jons was a part of three event victories and Elon posted four first-place finishes at the Mondo College Invitational Saturday at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem. Elon also sent throwers to the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge, hosted by the University of North Carolina.
MEDALING
- Elon won four events, placed second four times and finished third in another three events at the Mondo College Invitational. This included a first and second place finish in the 200.
- Reese Webster did not run in the finals of the 60, but she tied the school record in the preliminary round, running a time of 7.64 seconds to post the fastest time of the round.
- Piper Jons won the 200 in 25.28 seconds, ninth-fastest in program history. It was the first time she has run the 200 in her indoor career. Meghan Wilcox, who already has a top 10 200 time in her career, finished second in 26.07 seconds.
- Jons remained undefeated in the 400 this year, winning with a time of 56.63 seconds.
- Jons also ran the anchor leg of the 1600 relay team that posted a time of 3:58.71 to win the final event of the night on the track. She teamed with Aliya Barrows, Anna Kozlova and Wilcox for the victory.
- Linn Hertz Saebboe wrapped up an impressive day with a victory in the triple jump. She moved to fifth in school history with a personal best distance of 38-feet-8.25 (11.79m).
- Hertz Saebboe also finished third in the long jump with an indoor personal best mark of 17-9.5 (5.42m). Teammate Kalli'Ana Botelho nudged her out with a distance of 18-1 (5.51m) to move to tenth in school history in the event.
