School Records Under Fire
Elon's track and field student-athletes have reached numerous event top 10 lists this year and are threatening school records.
Reese Webster tied teammate
Meghan Wilcox's school record in the 60 with a time of 7.64 seconds at the Mondo College Invitational. Both will run the 60 this weekend at Clemson.
In the 200,
Piper Jons posted the second-fastest time in program history with a 24.69 this past weekend at Liberty. She is scheduled to run the distance again Saturday, along with Wilcox, who posted the sixth-fastest time in school history in 2022 at 25.09.
Linn Hertz Saebboe has climbed into the top 10 in both the long jump and triple jump. She posted a long jump mark of 18-3.75 (5.58m) this past weekend to tie for seventh in school history and her triple jump distance of 38-8.25 (11.79m) ranks fifth in program history.
True freshman
Hannah Schonhoff has already made her mark as she leaped 5-feet-6.5 (1.69m) in the high jump during December's meet in Winston-Salem, her collegiate debut. That puts her third in program history.
Graduate transfer
Kalli'Ana Botelho made an immediate impact in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.86 seconds in the December meet at JDL Fast Track. That places her fifth in program history.
In the pole vault, freshman
Lizzie Lopez climbed into the top 10 in eighth place as she cleared 10-4 (3.15m) at Liberty this past weekend.
Chelsea Wallace moved to 10
th in school history in the weight throw as she posted a mark of 52-1.25 (15.88m) at Liberty last weekend.
Still Unbeaten
Piper Jons has run the 400 three times during the 2022-23 season and is yet to be defeated on the track by a collegiate runner. In the season opener in December, she ran 56.47 seconds to get the victory. She followed that up with a time of 56.63 seconds Saturday to again outpace the field. At Liberty's Brant Tolsma Invitational, she ran 56.51 seconds and ended second overall, only falling behind a postgraduate runner.
Reese Webster has also been spotless in the 60, winning her prelim heat and posting the top prelim time at the Mondo College Invitational in 7.64 seconds. She did not compete in the finals.
Stephanie Lair made her season debut in the 800 at Liberty's Brant Tolsma Invitational, and she placed first with a time of 2:14.61.

CAA To Sponsor Indoor Championship
As membership has changed within the Colonial Athletic Association, the CAA will now hold an indoor track & field championship Feb. 22-23 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va. It will mark the first time the Elon program has had the opportunity to compete for an indoor conference championship since leaving the Southern Conference following the 2013-14 school year. Elon will also continue to compete for an ECAC indoor championship, scheduled to take place March 3-5 and hosted by Boston University. The Phoenix placed third at the ECAC Championships in 2022, scoring 49 points and trailing only UConn and Northeastern among the 39 scoring teams.

Elon Also Excels Academically
The Elon track & field team was honored as a 2021-22 CAA Academic Excellence Award recipient, which recognizes the team within each sport of the CAA with the highest collective grade point average. Along with that incredible honor, Elon was recognized by The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as an all-academic team.
