Elon Continues To Push The Pace As Clemson’s Bob Pollock Invite Concludes

Clemson, S.C. – The Elon University indoor track and field team continued setting new personal bests and pushing up the CAA leaderboard as day two of the Bob Pollock Invitational took place Saturday, hosted by Clemson. Piper Jons, Stephanie Lair and Jette Beermann all posted times among the top three in the conference Saturday.
 
FULL RESULTS

TOP PERFORMANCES
  • Piper Jons, who already ranks second in Elon history in the 200, set a new personal best time of 24.32 seconds. That time is just .04 seconds shy of the 24.28 school record set by Sydney Griffin in 2016. It is ranks first in the conference.
  • Stephanie Lair ran a season-best 2:12.01 in the 800 and ranks No. 3 in the CAA in the event. She is the school record-holder in the 800 with a time of 2:08.63 a year ago.
  • Jette Beermann posted the second-fastest time in the conference this year in the 3000. She ran a personal best 9:37.41 in her season debut in the event.
 
OTHER NOTABLE MARKS
  • Elon's 1600 relay team posted a time of 3:49.66, second-fastest in the CAA so far this year. The team of Meghan Wilcox, Aliya Barrows, Riley Drometer and Piper Jons ran the fifth-fastest time in program history.
  • Beermann was not the only Phoenix runner to post a strong time in the 3000. Hannah Miller ran 9:50.64, more than 30 seconds faster than her previous career best. That time ranks fifth in the CAA and is eighth in program history.
  • Anna Twomey ran the 3000 in 9:43.99, the seventh-best in Elon history. It ranks fifth in the CAA this year.
  • Meghan Wilcox posted a strong 24.87 in the 200, the fifth-fastest in Elon history. Teammate Reese Webster's time of 25.12 was seventh in program annals.
  • Lauryn Carlton recorded a season-best distance in shot put with a mark of 43-feet-10 (13.36m).
  • Alison Hodgson recorded an indoor PR in the 800 with a time of 2:18.25.

  • Elon is scheduled to compete in the Camel City Invitational Friday and Saturday at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem.
